13:50 – War Rooms

ITV Friday at Doncaster starts with the Listed Flying Scotsman for youngsters over seven furlongs. The form of many of these is very much up and down but I expect there is much more to come from the well named WAR ROOMS (by Churchill) who is proven with give in the ground and looked a very strong stayer on debut. Richard Kingscote rides for Owen Burrows and I liked the way the selection kept on nicely when scoring first time up.

14:25 Valiant Force ‘Each-way’

Now the Group 2 Flying Childers, again for two-year-olds over 5f. Big Evs won on soft at Goodwood and could easily bounce back to winning ways. I’ll have a few quid each-way on VALIANT FORCE for Adrian Murray and Rossa Ryan, who rides for Amo Racing now Kevin Stott has been ditched. Ryan was on board the shock Norfolk Stakes winner at Royal Ascot but not when my selection was behind Vandeek in the Morny. That effort was not too bad and was on very soft ground suggesting this surface should not be a bother. He might surprise a few.

15:00 Coltrane

Stayers now with the Group 2 Doncaster Cup over 2m 2f. Sweet William is improving fast but has a massive amount to find on ratings with COLTRANE who has to be the solid selection after a fine success at York last time. My hope has plenty of form with give in the ground and has been consistent all season including when second in the Ascot Gold Cup and third in the Goodwood Cup. Trueshan would be a danger at his best but has flopped plenty of times recently and Coltrane goes with juice just as well as Alan King’s star.

15:35 The Goat

Here’s a handicap over an extended 1m 6f. This could get tactical but THE GOAT can front run or go close to the pace so should be hard to beat for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy. The lightly-raced improver was a decent winner at Goodwood before a fair effort in the Melrose behind St Leger hope Middle Earth. Should run a big one.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
