Local Hero looked very special on his racecourse debut at Kempton when not fully extended to win by a wide margin and stamp himself as a useful prospect. Given his pedigree, there is a good chance that he will like the underfoot conditions at Doncaster and he goes into an open contest slightly overlooked in the market.
Malc stepped up dramatically from his racecourse debut to put up a huge performance at the Royal meeting and then was slightly underwhelming backing up on fast conditions on the July course at Newmarket. It may just be that softer ground is needed as he has started to strengthen up. He’s a big price and he can be expected to go very well.
Trueshan has had a wind operation and hopefully that does the trick. He was arguably unlucky in this contest last season as he was racing on and off the bridle and had he delayed his challenge, it could’ve been a different story. He does have to show his well-being but he comes from a classy Alan King outfit who wouldn’t bring him unless he was in tip-top condition.
Quantum Leap has only had the four races and he can be expected to step up considerably from a mark of just 87. He looks as if he is starting to settle better in his races and that combined with the slight drop in trip could play to his strengths. In these type of races, the combination of Ryan Moore and Sir Michael Stoute with Real Dream are our main threat.
