14:46 Good Point

Preference is for Bryan Smart’s well-bred colt GOOD POINT, who found stacks of improvement with his bold bid at Beverley two weeks ago and sets a fair standard on that near miss. Mutasawi didn’t live up to market expectations on AW last month but he was runner-up over C&D on his debut and is a big danger if he can recapture that form. There are also some newcomers to keep an eye on including Richard Fahey’s Tropical Island, whose sales price shot up to £135,000 in April.

15:20 Unequal Love

Elusive Angel has leading claims on her debut second at Kempton in May and she got squeezed out at the start when a respectable third behind a subsequent winner at Catterick last time. She’s strongly respected along with with Billyjoh, who made a bright start at Doncaster last month, but the vote goes to the other penalised runner in UNEQUAL LOVE. This Dutch Art filly left her initial form well behind when scoring at Leicester two weeks ago and is open to more progress for William Haggas.

15:56 Cosmos Raj

Blueflagflyinghigh couldn’t hang in there at Newmarket last time but that was after an emphatic win over C&D and he could resume his progress back at this track. Tabuk was successful in his final run in Ireland and is respected on his stable/turf debut, while Charlie Johnston’s Gareeb also enters the reckoning. However, the vote goes to the versatile 5yo COSMOS RAJ, who recorded his third course win when scoring over 1m here two weeks ago and is a big player again on this step back up in trip.

16:30 Chillingham (NAP)

It’s hard to rule out many of these but the most striking contender is CHILLINGHAM (nap), who made it 3-5 with his comfortable win at Thirsk in April and the step up to 1m6f didn’t really work out for him at Royal Ascot last time. This son of Ulysses could resume his progress on this drop back in trip and he gets the vote ahead of Mr Curiosity and Dark Jedi.

17:05 Young Fire

Plenty have possibilities but the vote goes to David O’Meara’s resurgent 8yo YOUNG FIRE, who has won three times since March and didn’t get any luck in a Class 3 event at Ayr last time. Spirit Catcher is feared most on his drop back in grade, although Innse Gall has a solid record this season and could make a big impact if he gets a good pace on his drop back in trip. Golden Melody could be the pick of Tim Easterby’s three runners, while Imperial Sands also enters the reckoning along with Hortzadar, who has a striking record at this track.

17:40 Wreck It Ryley

An open race in which the vote goes to WRECK IT RYLEY, who is still unexposed on turf and looks a big player if he can build on his creditable effort in a big field at Pontefract 19 days ago. Glendown got off the mark over C&D last time and he’s feared most ahead of Thornaby Pearl, who ran well for a long way at Doncaster on his recent return. Another to consider is Strength ‘n Honour, who is now 1lb lower than for his win and was an eyecatcher at Wolverhampton two weeks ago.
