TOKYO DRIFT is bred to be sharp and she showed plenty to work on when finishing third to a promising type on debut at Kempton last month. Her next start can be excused where soft ground possibly didn’t suit, and she got right back on track when third past the post at Thirsk last time. She was promoted to second in the stewards’ room after suffering inteference and she sets the standard on form. Snafiya and Melisende, who have also shown ability, rate the principal dangers.
INDIANA BE’s latest third at Redcar has to go down as disappointing effort, but the pick of his form gives him sound claims in this line up. and he’s probably worth another chance in the hope he settles better on this occasion. Sidney’s Son’s participation (due to run at Beverley on Wednesday) would put a different slant on things given he remains open to improvement and he, along with Gold Guy, can also feature.
TELE RED was a two-time winner last season and he has improved with each run this time round, leaving his reappearance well behind when running well for a long way in testing conditions at Thirsk earlier this month and building on that back on firmer ground when beaten a head in second over course and distance 11 days ago. He is due to be 2 lb higher in the weights in future races, so he is worth backing again to go one place better under conditions which suit. Fulfilled progressed steadily last term and may have more to offer as a four-year-old.
HAARAR progressed well in handicaps last year, recording wins at Windsor and Chelmsford, and he has left the impression he is working his way back to fitness in two starts this campaign. He was suited by the drop back to a mile and a half in heavy ground at Doncaster last time, having every chance two furlongs from home but having no extra in the closing stages. His best form has come on a sounder surface, though, and he is potentially well treated on the pick of his form, so is a horse to remain positive about fitted with a first-time visor. Knightswood, who is also well handicapped on his best form, rates next best, ahead of Gastronomy.
NIGWA is bred to be smart and she built on previous promise when opening her account over course and distance last season, form which worked out very well. She left the impression she has plenty more to offer on her reappearance at Newcastle and she was arguably unlucky not to resume winning ways at Hamilton last time, not blessed with the clearest run but staying on all the way to the line. That was a strong race for the grade and Nigwa will be well suited by this step back up in trip. She remains a horse to be positive about. Baryshnikov has slipped in the weights and appears to be building up to something so is another to consider.
LILY IN THE JUNGLE has a very good record at this track – she has three course and distance wins to her name – and she returned to form out of the blue when resuming winning ways here 11 days ago. The return to firmer ground and drop in grade were certainly factors, soon in the lead and pouring it on out in front. She runs under a 6 lb penalty now in a race which doesn’t look too much stronger and she seems sure to launch another bold bid. We’renotreallyhere and Another Baar are feared most.
HURSTWOOD rattled off a quick hat-trick last season, including a win over course and distance, but he lost his way afterwards and as a result dropped in the weights. He wasn’t ideally drawn and didn’t show much on his return at Thirsk last month, but he stepped up on that while not being seen to best effect at Catterick last time. Hurstwood is now 3 lb below his last winning mark and ought to be competitive with a clear run. Giselles Izzy was only grabbed on the line at Ayr last week and is much respected, whilst Macho Pride can also make his presence felt.
