13:15 – Haydock – Cmon Kenny
A 0-75 handicap with just seven runners declared and Cmon Kenny seems to have as good a chance as any with William Buick booked for Ian Williams. He looks to have more upside than most but not an overly strong fancy.
13:30 – Goodwood – King Of Conquest (each-way)
Francesco Clemente looks a short-enough price to me – despite being unbeaten. I’d like to see him stay unbeaten in a better race before I take his rating of 112 literally.
As an each-way alternative, KING OF CONQUEST – a dual winner this season already – can track the leaders and hopefully pounce late in this Listed 1m 2f contest.
13:50 – Haydock – Firstman
Law of the Sea sees Ian Williams and William Buick try to pull off a quick-fire double in the opening races with the five-year-old Law of the Sea who ran well when fourth in the Chester Cup. Tony Martin’s FIRSTMAN looks to have a little chance, particularly if he’s looking to run him in the Ascot Stakes and may need a hike in the weights to get in. He’s a bigger price and can hit the places, of which Paddy is paying four in this contest if they all show up.
14:05 – Goodwood – Classic
There’s been good money for Yacowlef in the early market and he could threaten Bresson for favouritism come post time. I prefer CLASSIC who was only beaten a neck by The Foxes at level weights last season. Now, The Foxes have obviously improved and is fancied for the Epsom Derby after his York win, but Classic has his sights lowered now in handicap company after blowing out in a soft-ground Greenham Stakes. He can take advantage of this drop in class.
14:25 – Haydock – Covey
The Gosden’s and Frankie Dettori team up with COVEY in the one-mile handicap but he’s been well found in the market. So I’ve gone down the card and hit on Bodorgan who is making his seasonal debut for the in-form Charles Hills. An impressive winner on his last start last season he could be well treated on a mark of 87 for his first run in a handicap.

15:00 – Haydock – Little Big Bear
There’s enough evidence to suggest that Bradsell can turn the tables on Cold Case after they met at Ascot a few weeks ago and he finished third to today’s rival. Bradsell won the Coventry Stakes last season at Royal Ascot and that form is rock solid.
However, I’m not going to turn my back on LITTLE BIG BEAR after one poor run in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket. Aidan O’Brien’s runner is the selection in a race that should have a big bearing on the Commonwealth Cup market.
15:15 – York – Moon Daisy (each-way)
Irish challenger MOON DAISY doesn’t win very often but can hit the places at a nice price in this Group 3 contest over 1m 6f. She was a fast-finishing fourth at Leopardstown last time after a tawdry start. Donnacha O’Brien has a 21 per cent strike rate this season and is on course already for his best-ever season.
15:30 – Haydock – Live In The Dream
The Temple Stakes is a wide-open 5f contest and I’m sticking with Live In the Dream. He got caught close home in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket last time but was a dual winner before that. He should handle the likely quicker ground conditions also. He looks like an improving four-year-old.
