13:50 – Arc Shadowfax

Persian Phoenix hasn’t long turned two but she is bred to be useful and looks the pick of the newcomers. Vice Captain and Invincible Amy are others with paper claims but ARC SHADOWFAX can get off the mark at the second attempt. Bred to be sharp, he was clueless in the early stages on his Thirsk debut but did make some headway when the penny dropped. That was a much stronger race than this – the first two had already shown useful form and the third has since bolted up – and he can provide his yard with a first 2yo winner.

14:20 – Chaturanga

Up The Jazz (second choice) showed enough at Beverley to think he could play a part with the experience behind him, but this may be best left to one of the newcomers. CHATURANGA looks the part on paper and represents a yard who are 5-10 with their 2yos this season. Night Safari may prove best of the rest.

14:55 – Paradise Row

Milteye might prove more tractable in headgear and he still has time to do better but the pair to appeal most are Hat Toss and PARADISE ROW. The former took a big step forward when second on his stable debut 23 days ago and still has more to come, but the selection caught the eye with a strong finish from a hopeless position on her debut and she should be more clued up with that run behind her.

15:30 – Senesi

Strangerontheshore and Alethiometer can go well for the older generation but this may go the way of one of the 3yos. Dee See Are, Violeta and My Honey B (second choice) are considered but SENESI has shown clear promise in three AW runs and makes her handicap debut at a realistic level.

16:00 – Belsito

Easy to back from a wide stall on his comeback recently, C&D winner BELSITO is entitled to improve and is preferred to Exceed, whose near-misses this spring have come in lesser company. Mistamac is another with claims if more amenable back from five months off having been gelded.

16:30 – Ready Freddie Go

The return to a sound surface should prompt a return to form for the unexposed Sacred Jewel but the pair to appeal most are Dubai Dawn and READY FREDDIE GO. It is quite possible that Dubai Dawn has been let into handicaps lightly and there is no denying he has been impressive in his two 6f AW wins, but this will be a much stiffer test for him and in the top-weight he is up against a battle-hardened sprinter who should be spot on after his return to action on unsuitably slow ground.

17:05 – Mr Jetman

Eight Mile has been beaten twice off this mark since a ready AW win in March, but he still looks at the top of his game and ought to make another bold bid. Erazmus, Tilt At Windmills and Bowleaze all flopped on soft ground last time but retain potential on a sounder surface, while Anieres Girl is feared down in class and going back over 7f could help Thornaby Beauty. The pair to appeal most are Rubellite and MR JETMAN (nap), with the former open to considerable progress over 7f and handicapping at a low level. Mr Jetman looked a winner in waiting when pulling clear with the favourite at Musselburgh last week and he can go one better.

17:40 – Galilaeus

The well-related GALILAEUS showed why he’d come in for such heavy support ahead of his comeback when off the mark last Wednesday, the better ground and blinkers clearly helping there. He can defy a penalty at the main expense of Coltrane’s half-brother Michael’s Pledge, who unsurprisingly did much better upped to this trip on his comeback.
