13:30 – Chester – Navello
George Boughey’s runner NAVELLO is a dual winner over course and distance and is now 3lb lower than when winning last season. It’s always a positive when Franny Norton gets the call up around this track and he should get an ideal tow into the contest as there’s pace all round him.
13:50 – Southwell – Yorkshire
Looked good when winning over 6f last time in a Novice Stakes and steps up to 7f now for his first run in handicap company. The talk after that win from the trainer was of a possible tilt at the Royal meeting, but they have had a rethink. A mark of 83 could underestimate the ability of YORKSHIRE.
14:05 – Chester – Surely Not
There was an awful lot to like about the way SURELY NOT went about his business when winning on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket 22 days ago. Admittedly, he has been raised 7lb but that ought not to slow him down too much. The trainer Dominic Ffrench Davis is in red-hot form and William Buick is booked.
14:40 – Chester – Local Dynasty
The Godolphin runner went through the gears very nicely last season and was only put in his place when fifth to Chaldean at York. LOCAL DYNASTY finished the season with a very gutsy display at Listed level at Pontefract, and this looks an ideal return for him. We will find out today if connections need to make an entry for the Epsom Derby after this run.

15:15 – Chester – Hamish
He’s obviously very tricky to train, but the team have handled him extremely well down the years and looks for back-to-back wins in this contest. It’s probably one of the stronger renewals of this race with a few having strong credentials at Chester but it means there’s a little more meat in HAMISH‘s price.
15:45 – Chester – Amor Vincit Omnia
Made his debut for the Harry Eustace yard last month and clearly needed the run when sixth to Mustazeed at Newbury. AMOR VINCIT OMNIA travelled smoothly in mid-division before making a challenge and wasn’t given a hard time after his chance had gone. He’s not badly treated on his juvenile form and won’t mind the conditions.
