Aintree NAPS Today: Paddy Power traders pick their best bets

Here's who our number crunchers fancy.

Paddy Power’s team of horse racing traders pick their best bets from Day 1 of the Aintree Grand National Festival.

14.20 – Bo Zenith – Ryan McCue

Disappointing first run for the yard back in January at Sandown but the manner of which BO ZENITH won his next two starts I liked. He’s a strong stayer so the long straight at Aintree will suit and the fact he’s fresher than some having not been to Cheltenham, he looks a very solid each-way bet to me.

14:20 – Zenta – Donal McKenna

ZENTA has very few miles on the clock having only made her Irish debut late February. She ran a great race to finish third at Cheltenham, is clearly the best horse in the race and with Willie Mullins excellent strike rate in these types of races at the Aintree Festival I think Zenta is a strong bet at any price bigger than evens.

14:20 – Nusret – Adam Killeen

The Irish juveniles have looked a cut above the British so far this season. Zenta looks the obvious play in this race however her Cheltenham run was a big step up on her first start for the yard and she isn’t certain to back it up again so soon after.

At a bigger price and hoping that ground conditions don’t deteriorate too much I think NUSRET has a good chance here. He easily won at Kempton in February and was put away specifically for this race & I like the angle of a fresh horse coming here.

14:20 – Rightsotom – Niall Carney

RIGHTSOTOM is an interesting selection each way in the 14:20. Having been green on debut he still put in an impressive performance on the clock behind Zarak The Brave (who was only narrowly defeated by Lossiemouth next time out). He may have disappointed at Cheltenham but stayed on well having been one of the first horses off the bridle. Danny Mullins is back on board and his experience here could be the key to seeing Rightsotom run into a place given the somewhat weak opposition towards the front of the market.

14:55 – Conflated – Sam Kirwan

CONFLATED comes into this having finished seven lengths behind Bravemansgame in the Gold Cup but he was unlucky not to finish closer. His momentum was checked just after they turned for home in what was a well-run race. Conflated has also proven himself at the Aintree festival, having been a decent third in this race last year. The opposite can be said for Bravemansgame who is a twice-beaten favourite here and was particularly disappointing last year.

16:05 – Winger Leader – Sean O’Sullivan

The WINGED LEADER fan club have had a long wait for compensation on the big day after being criminally mugged at the Cheltenham festival last year, but all signs point to redemption for him on Thursday. This race really suits bold jumping, prominent runners and he should be able to use that asset to get this field in big trouble. Conditions should pose no threat and I expect him to take all the beating.
