14:05 Kempton – Phantom Flight
Phantom Flight has long been the apple of his trainer’s eye and looked spectacular when blitzing the field at York. We’re going to forgive him a below par effort when we last saw him and he returns in Listed company looking to continue his climb up the ladder. He’s going to be well overlooked in the market.
14:25 Doncaster – Baltimore Boy
These are going to be the softest conditions that Baltimore Boy has encountered so far but, given his pedigree, it looks as if it’s going to suit him perfectly. He’s very much a low-mileage improver and we can expect him to be played typically fast and late with Jamie Spencer in the saddle.
14:40 Kempton – My Mate Ted
My Mate Ted has built himself a pretty impressive all weather profile and his victory over course and distance was very smooth. He has changed ownership to be kept in the yard, and that can prove a very shrewd move as he looks nowhere near his ceiling rating at the moment perched on just 78.
15:00 Doncaster – Ehraz
Ehraz promised a lot more than he eventually delivered last season and so he has seen the wedding tackle removed over the winter. He has a pretty decent record fresh and his ability to handle the ground is a positive. Added to that, it’s a meeting that his handler Richard Hannon excels at.

15:15 Kempton – Sleeping Lion
Sleeping Lion managed to win this contest back in 2021 and his record on a synthetic surface is pretty decent. He will be a bit of a hostage to fortune as he needs a strong gallop to be seen at his best. If that strong pace happens he could have too much finishing speed for these.
15:35 Doncaster – Al Mubhir, Greatgadian (each way)
The favourite Al Mubhir has all the hallmarks of another winner in this contest for William Haggas’ outstanding stable. If that comes to pass it would put them on a remarkable five successes in this particular contest. The only downside is that he’s going to be a very short price.
Greatgadian hasn’t tried a soft surface since getting beaten by the Godolphin machine Siskany when he was rated just 86 at Sandown. He’s now 116! My second selection here is a whopping each way price and, on pedigree, he should appreciate the very testing conditions.
