BRIDGET BREEZE is from a good family – out of a half-sister to smart hurdler Brindisi Breeze – and she looked promising when making a winning debut in a bumper at Kelso in September. She also made an encouraging start over hurdles at Ayr three weeks ago, her jumping novicey at times but doing all of her best work at the finish. She is entitled to improve for that initial experience and she looks the one to beat. Pougne Aminta is sure to be in the thick of the action if reproducing her Southwell form, so is put forward as the main danger.
GETAWAY JEWEL won back-to-back handicaps at Market Rasen last summer and ran respectably when finishing third at Catterick when last seen in December. He has been freshened up since and he has plenty of experience for a novice, so he is expected to go close on his return to action having slipped 1 lb below his last winning mark. Somewhat Cloudy and Howyouplaythegame made a positive start over fences when finishing one-two at Market Rasen so are the obvious threats.
CRUZ CONTROL had some near useful form in bumpers last year and landed good support in style when making a winning start over hurdles at Newcastle on Boxing Day. He made a couple of mistakes at his hurdles but easily went clear of his rivals, so connections were entitled to take their chance in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last time. That race ultimately proved too hot for him but he wasn’t knocked about and he is fancied to resume his progress now back in calmer waters. Thistlebuffs is well related and shaped with promise on his hurdling debut so better is expected from him now.
DARE TO SHOUT has made an excellent start to his career, finishing runner-up to a useful sort on his debut at Newcastle at the end of January and looking a good prospect when opening his account at Kelso on his next start. He didn’t need to improve to follow up under a penalty back at Newcastle last time, but it was hard not to be impressed by the manner of his victory, and he looks very interesting now entering handicaps. This will require more but he has the potential to win more races from this sort of mark. Fransham and Albert’s Back have recorded seven course and distance wins between them and they head the opposition.

FEIVEL had some fairly useful form for Dr Richard Newland but he improved right away when making a winning start for this yard over this course and distance last month, seeming to relish the step up to three miles for the first time. He ran another mighty race from 6 lb higher when runner-up at Sandown last time, not jumping as fluently as he could but still laying down a strong challenge on the run-in. This course doesn’t take as much jumping and he is just 2 lb higher now, so he seems sure to launch another bold bid. Lounge Lizard will be a danger if the blinkers work as well a second time, while East Street ran poorly behind the selection here last time but can figure if bouncing back to his best.
ROSTELLO capitalised on a falling mark when scoring with a bit in hand at Southwell 11 days ago, making all of the running and coming home unchallenged to win by 14 lengths. He is well in turned out under a 7 lb penalty and will take a fair bit of stopping if turning up in similar form. Point winner Divine Inspiration could prove a different proposition now switched to chasing, so he needs monitoring in the market representing a shrewd yard.
The market should reveal plenty here but SMURFETTE showed up really well when fifth on her debut at Warwick and can return from a break in style. Amarbelle’s Dream is worth another chance to confirm her debut promise so could emerge as the chief threat to Dan Skelton’s charge, while newcomers Miss Goldfire and Unsinkable Molly B are two more who need factoring into an open-looking bumper.
