On the back of an encouraging reappearance effort and now getting plenty of weight all round, KHANGAI may be the answer to this open-looking race. The tricky call for second choice goes to Saturnalia, who remains open to further progress on AW. Dutch Kingdom is third on the list but most of the others have possibilities.
18:00 – Deceiver
The rematch between Starlight Nation and Naaser could go either way as although the former gets a 7lb pull, the latter has won since they met six weeks ago and looks capable of further progress. They are big players on form but an interesting alternative is DECEIVER, who showed ability last term in two races that have thrown up several winners. Enborne, the suggested second choice, also looks open to improvement this year.
18:30 – Alpha Zulu
With progress on the cards, Newcastle runner-up ALPHA ZULU is taken to go one better. Peony (second choice) and ex-Irish McCauley’s Tavern are the main dangers on form. The two newcomers need a market check.
19:00 – Golden Passport
As an unexposed sort whose novice form has received several boosts, GOLDEN PASSPORT could well prove ahead of his opening mark. Restrict, another interesting handicap debutant, is second choice ahead of C&D winner Little Edi.

19:30 – Mount Athos
Having recorded 5l wins on his last two appearances and with the form having substance, MOUNT ATHOS (NAP) could well complete the hat-trick. He looks the type to improve further and may even develop into a Listed/Group performer in due course. Dubai Station is second on the shortlist, ahead of Vafortino, Sir Dancealot and Rhythm Master in that order of preference.
20:00 – Novel Legend
There’s been so much to like about the recent efforts of Blazeon Five and First Emperor, who should go very well again and are preferred in that order, with little between them. Hydroplane should also be on the premises, while Sarsons Risk is interesting, but the vote goes to NOVEL LEGEND who took very well to staying trips on turf in the autumn.
20:30 – Phoenix Star
Mustaffiz is still a maiden in Britain but he holds every chance of reversing last-time-out Chelmsford placings with Sir Rodneyredblood on these slightly better terms. As regards the remainder, four-time course and distance winner PHOENIX STAR is tempting off a very handy mark back here, while class-dropper Kondratiev Wave is the suggested second choice.
