The ITV Racing gang are at Chester for the opening day of the May Festival and the Group 3 Chester Vase (3:40pm) tops the bill as Grosvenor Square and Hidden Law bid to enhance their credentials for next month’s Epsom Derby. There is also Listed action courtesy of the Cheshire Oaks (3:05pm).
Goldana bids to add another Listed prize to her CV in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes (6:50pm) at Gowran Park and trainer Joseph O’Brien will be hoping her stablemate Dancing Tango can achieve the same feat in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Vintage Tipple Stakes (6:20pm).
Politacus attempts to bring up a hat-trick in the Class 2 Herring Queen Series Final Mares’ Handicap Hurdle (3:45pm), Fontwell also stages Jumps action and Kempton’s all-weather meeting in the evening rounds off proceedings.
