Frank Hickey – 14:10 Cheltenham – Gerri Colombe
Unbeaten in seven starts under rules, Gerri Colombe has won two Grade 1’s this season over fences despite the fact that he is yet to run over his optimum distance of three miles. The step up in trip should bring about plenty of improvement and he already brings the best form into the race. He is a really clever jumper and I will be surprised if he gets beaten, as I can see him coming back here next year as a big player in the Gold Cup itself.
Sam Kirwan – 14:50 Cheltenham – Langer Dan
Langer Dan drops back into handicap company today for a yard who have a very strong record in handicap hurdles at the festival. He was backed into 9/2 favourite for the Martin Pipe last year when racing off of a mark of 137. He races here of off only 4lb higher and, his season so far looks to have revolved around this and the Aintree festival.

Ryan McCue – 15:30 Cheltenham – Energumene
I’m hoping the ground will be soft enough or at least not good so Energumene can show his true colours and bounce back to winning ways to retain his Champion Chase crown. Things didn’t go right on his last start, and I would expect a much improved performance to show his dominance over the main dangers in Edwardstone and Editeur Du Gite.
Daniel Collins – 16:50 Cheltenham – Dinoblue
The Grand Annual doesn’t look the hottest renewal and it was weakened further by a couple of the fancied horses getting balloted out. As such Dinoblue looks very interesting off a mark of 140 given her form in graded mares races. JP also has current favourite Andy Dufresne but he couldn’t win last year’s renewal off a similar mark, and Dinoblue has far fewer miles on the clock.

Donal McKenna – 17:30 Cheltenham – No Time To Wait
Makes plenty of appeal at 40/1 with a number of books going 5 places on the bumper. For me it was one of the most visually pleasing bumper performances of the season with No Time To Wait looking at ease on the Down Royal undulations & Davy Russel riding is no negative.
