14:00 – Saint Sam
The mercurial SAINT SAM does a lot of things wrong but he is the best horse in the race and can overcome his flaws in this company. Fils D’Oudairies is the most probable alternative.
14:35 – Parmenion
Present Soldier is likely improver from his Naas debut but may well play third fiddle here. Lets Go Champ did well on his belated track debut at Punchestown and there should be more to come, but the twice-raced PARMENION achieved plenty in two outings here and at Fairyhouse and can make it third time lucky.
15:10 – Down The Park
Bop Bop Bobbin is an interesting recruit to hurdles, while we have yet to see the best of Jumping Jet over flights. Emily Roebling should run her normal consistent race, but the selection is DOWN THE PARK after a good bumper debut at Fairyhouse. She should go close on her debut for Barry Connell if her jumping holds.
15:45 – LizLucky (NAP)
A few of these come into the race in good form. Time To Rocco has definite claims on her latest effort at Fairyhouse, as does Bynx after a career best effort at Gowran. Others, such as last year’s runner-up Indie Belle are respected, but with Pat Foley’s horses in such form, the consistent LIZLUCKY (NAP) can be rewarded for some highly creditable efforts since her win at Clonmel in October.

16:20 – Irish Blaze
Question marks over a few of these. Tyre Kicker comes here in the best form but has to be a doubt over so short a trip on drying ground. Mattie’s Mountain is coming back from a small absence after a fall, and perhaps this might go to IRISH BLAZE who has been getting the hang of things over fences despite an unseat last time.
16:55 – Birchdale
Top-weight Panda Boy sets a decent standard but is better suited by 3m. Last year’s runner-up Jerandme has not run over fences since but is very much respected. Preference is for BIRCHDALE after a fine effort in the Leopardstown Chase last month and would be hard to beat with a reproduction.
17:30 – Balally Park
Sattam should improve on his Naas debut but is likely vulnerable to some attractive-looking newcomers which include the home-bred The Yellow Clay and the well-bred Base Of Fire. It is a total punt, but maybe the one to beat could be the expensively bought BALALLY PARK, who makes plenty of appeal on pedigree too.
