Newcastle 17:15 – Freewheelin

Dundalk 18:00 – Elzaamsan
The five-year-old will be looking to get the new Michael Halford / Tracey Collins training combination off to a flying start and the step up and distance to two miles could be the key. Elzaamsan went down by half a length last time over 1m 4f and doesn’t look on a bad mark of just 67 – which is 12lb below where he originally started in the ratings.
Newcastle 17:15 – Freewheelin
He has put up a couple of smart performances over this course and distance the last few times we have seen him. He looks on a really good mark of 51 to take advantage of an ideal opportunity. Freewheelin is pretty straightforward tactically and with only limited pace in this race, he should be able to sit handy and just take a nice lead in the box seat.
Newcastle 17:45 – Win Win Power
The six-year-old seems to have found an extra leg since being switched to the Michael Appleby stable, winning three of his last four. Win Win Power is not on a bad mark off 57 judged on his form and his only try at this venue was off a mark of 75. Must be some wriggle room there.

Newcastle 18:15 – Barney’s Bay
This contest brings in lots of recent winning form for a good few of the runners, but from a tactics point of view, there is an opportunity for Barney’s Bay to dominate on the front end. He has been operating at a solid level of form over a variety of distances and should appreciate the long sprint test of 7 furlongs up this strip.
Newcastle 19:15 – Less is More
Has been given a very good opportunity by the handicapper with the decision to put her on a very lenient-looking mark of 68. The form of her third-place finish last time out has been boosted by both the winner and the second obliging since. Although now going in against some more seasoned individuals, Less is More may well just have too much ability from this mark.
Newcastle 19:45 – Thornaby Beauty
He put up a much improved display on her handicap debut last time, when only failing by 3/4 of a length at Southwell behind the re-opposing Rossmore Nation. She has a good turnaround in the weights now and this track will present a slightly stiffer test which should suit Thornaby Beauty. She hit the line very strongly that day and is lightly-raced and improving.
Newcastle 20:15 Kraken Power
Jim Goldie’s runner has been in tremendous form of late, despite those contests not really suiting his hold-up style. He’s been competitive without getting the ideal set up off a good pace to aim at – but that should change now.
Mews House should give him a perfect tow until well inside the furlong marker and Kraken Power can pounce then.
