12:45 – Jackpot De Choisel
JACKPOT DE CHOISEL shaped with plenty of encouragement when third on his hurdling debut at Fairyhouse six weeks ago, sticking to his task well to be beaten only two lengths. He seems sure to improve with that experience under his belt and this looks a good opportunity for him to get off the mark over hurdles at the second attempt, especially as he receives 7 lb from the two previous winners in the line-up, Start In Front and Jipekaa Machin.

13:17 – Rocco Storm
ROCCO STORM made it three wins from his last four starts with a career-best effort over this course and distance a few weeks ago, hitting the front before the last and quickly asserting from there to land the spoils by five lengths. His progress since a breathing operation shows no signs of slowing down and a further 7 lb climb in the weights probably won’t be enough to prevent him from going in again in these deeper waters.
13:50 – Gold Cup Bailly
GOLD CUP BAILLY maintained his unbeaten record over fences with another comfortable win over this course and distance last month, only winning by a length and a quarter but looking value for extra having idled close home. He impressed with his jumping once more and it’s highly unlikely that he’s finished improving just yet. Very much one to follow, he can defy a 4lb higher mark to make it four from four on his way to bigger and better things in this sphere.
14:25 – Aazza
AAZZA confirmed the promise of her previous run with an emphatic victory at Doncaster last time, clearly relishing the return to three miles as she forged clear on the run-in to win by 20 lengths. This will be tougher following a 13 lb hike in the weights, but she clearly arrives here in a rich vein of form and that alone could count for a lot in a race where plenty of her rivals have questions to answer. She seems to get on particularly well with young claimer Dylan Johnston and another big run could be on the cards.
15:00 – Grand Voyage
GRAND VOYAGE won at this course in November and has shaped as if still in good form in two subsequent starts. He was beaten less than three lengths when last seen finishing third at Wetherby over Christmas, just lacking a change of gear in a race which developed into a sprint up the straight. He is 1 lb lower in the weights today and this is a weaker contest on paper in which he would appear to hold leading claims now back up in trip.

15:35 – Thistle Ask
THISTLE ASK stepped up on his reappearance when filling the runner-up spot over this course and distance last time, ultimately proving no match for the winner but sticking to his task well to pull clear of the rest. The third has won since on his handicap debut and the balance of that form suggests Thistle Ask might be capable of doing likewise today. A BHA mark of 112 certainly looks a fair starting point to life in this sphere and it will be no surprise if he takes another big step forward on just his third start for James Ewart (formerly trained by Stuart Crawford).
16:10 – Chalk That Down
CHALK THAT DOWN made a most promising start to his career when finding one too good in a bumper at Newcastle on Boxing Day, keeping on well to pass the post less than two lengths behind the winner. That form comfortably sets the standard here on Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings and his scope for more improvement makes him very hard to oppose in the finale.
