13:45 – Sams Adventure

SAMS ADVENTURE has been disappointing since winning the Eider Handicap Chase in 2021 but he has fallen a long way in the weights and, fitted with a visor for the first time, he took a step back in the right direction when third in the North Yorkshire Grand National here a couple of weeks ago. Sam’s Adventure had no excuses on that occasion, though it did mark him out as being of interest again. He has been eased another 2 lb and looks worth a chance to build on that effort.

14:15 – Howlingmadmurdock

HOWLINGMADMURDOCK looked an above-average prospect when winning a Fontwell bumper by five lengths on his only start for Anthony Honeyball last season, and he also made a successful start over hurdles on his first outing for Tom Lacey at Plumpton last month, finding plenty and showing a likeable attitude. The way he stuck to his task at Plumpton suggests the step up in trip here ought to suit and he’s fancied to maintain his unbeaten record.

14:45 – Mcgarry

MCGARRY landed a gamble in a handicap hurdle on his final start for Phil Kirby last season and he may well have done similar on his chasing debut – and first outing for Stuart Coltherd – at Newcastle on Boxing Day had he not made his move sooner than ideal. McGarry travelled best in that two-mile handicap chase and quickened to lead between the fourth-last and three out, but he made a mistake there and was unable to sustain the effort, getting collared just before the last and also losing second close home. He shaped like he’s still on a handy mark, however, and he will have no problem with this step up in trip (he won over half a mile further over hurdles).

15:15 – Will Victory

WILL VICTORY was below her best on her first start for Harry Fry at Hereford in October but she improved on that to score at Sedgefield last month, proving well suited by the longer trip and more prominent tactics being employed. She took another step forward to defy a 9 lb higher mark at Plumpton last time, winning with more in hand than the margin of two lengths might imply after idling, and a 4 lb rise in the weights won’t prevent a bold hat-trick bid, especially as she has more to offer for this yard and is still relatively unexposed over this intermediate trip.

15:45 – Git Maker

GIT MAKER fared well over hurdles, winning three of his four starts in that sphere, and he has also made an encouraging start over fences. He got off the mark at the third attempt when scoring over this course and distance on New Year’s Day and, although that was a weak race for the level, he won with something to spare. That offers encouragement that he could still be capable of better over fences.

16:15 – Eclairant le Monde

ECLAIRANT LE MONDE takes the eye on her handicap debut, starting out from a potentially lenient mark based on what she has shown in juvenile hurdles. She remains relatively unexposed and, given how strongly she travels, should be suited by this sharp track. She will have the assistance of Brian Hughes in the saddle.
