BUG BOY shaped better than the bare result when last seen finishing fifth at this course in September, doing well to be beaten only four lengths having been left with too much to do. He is 3 lb lower in the weights today and remains one to be interested in as he seeks a third success of the calendar year.

14:15 – Ship To Shore
SHIP TO SHORE caught the eye when fourth on his latest outing at Southwell, passing the post only two and a half lengths behind the winner and looking unlucky not to finish closer still having suffered some late interference. He probably would have been second with a clear run and deserves another chance to prove himself on a good mark, with further progress not out of the question given his lightly raced profile.
14:45 – Twilight Revenge
TWILIGHT REVENGE bounced back to his best to finally get off the mark over this course and distance 10 days ago, edging ahead close home to get the verdict by a short head. He is only 2 lb higher in the weights today and seems sure to go well again having been placed from much higher marks earlier in the year.
15:15 – Dashing Rat
DASHING RAT didn’t enjoy the best of runs when fifth over this course and distance a few weeks ago, a race where he was upsides the eventual winner when meeting trouble and having to be snatched up a furlong out. Still beaten less than four lengths, he should be able to build on that effort if the blinkers continue to have the desired effect and a BHA mark of 57 is clearly workable when everything falls right.

15:45 – Azure Angel
AZURE ANGEL stepped up on her debut form to get off the mark at Newcastle last month, hitting the front over a furlong out and showing a good attitude from there to hold on, ultimately winning by a head. She is very much the type to go on improving and this looks a thin contest in which she should be capable of defying a penalty for her powerful connections
16:15 – Nails Murphy
NAILS MURPHY made a very promising start to his career when winning a novice event at Chelmsford earlier this month, just needing to be kept up to his work late on to land the spoils by three quarters of a length in comfortable fashion. A few interesting newcomers feature among the opposition today, but Nails Murphy sets a good standard and should have more to offer. He can shrug off a penalty to maintain his unbeaten record.
16:45 – Nap Hand
NAP HAND shaped encouragingly after three months off (gelded in the interim) when filling the runner-up spot over this course and distance 12 days ago, passing the post just a neck just a neck behind the winner despite leaving the impression the steady gallop was against him. He is clearly well up to winning something similar and today could well be the day from just a 2 lb higher mark.
17:15 – Dhabab
DHABAB returned from over a year off the track (gelded and had a breathing operation in the interim) with an impressive victory on his handicap debut at Lingfield last month, proving better than ever as he finished strongly from mid-division to win by a neck. He is in deeper waters today, but that was borderline very smart form he showed at Lingfield and just a repeat of that effort might be good enough for him to follow up.
17:45 – First Charge
FIRST CHARGE was a bit out of sorts on turf earlier this year, but he has been given a good break since and is starting to look dangerously well handicapped judged on the pick of his efforts. For context, he lines up today from a BHA mark of 70 having won this race last year off 73, making him very much the one to beat if rediscovering his best form.
