12.30 – Journey With Me
Kilcruit is in against Journey With Me at Punchestown on Saturday and the latter is a good horse. It looks the toss of a coin between them and maybe Henry de Bromhead’s runners are a little more forward than Willie Mullins’ at the moment? Journey with Me has already beaten Kilcruit over hurdles so will history repeat itself?

13.03 – Hallowed Star
Midnight Run has a rating of 141 but I’m not sure he warrants it. Grand Paradis from Gordon Elliott’s yard was disappointing behind El Barra but may improve for the run. The one that looks an improver is John ‘the Shark’ Hanlon’s Hallowed Star who bolted in at Galway by 19 lengths beating Caesar Rock. He could be dangerous under Danny Mullins.
FANCY A CHANCE TO WIN £/€25K?
13.38 – Benaud
An interesting maiden hurdle where Absolute Notions and Benaud set the standard. The latter had a Flat rating of 102 despite not setting the world alight in a couple of big Flat handicaps. Even if he was a 92 rated Flat horse coming in here it may be good enough to win first time up over hurdles, particularly if he’s schooled well. Absolute Notions was an impressive bumper winner at the Punchestown Festival of the Goff Land Rover bumper.

14.13 – Queens Brook
Queens Brook should have come on plenty for her last run when beaten at odds-on and can reverse the form with Heaven Help Us, who was four and a half lengths ahead of her at Limerick when both were well behind Rebel Ivy.
14.48 – Halibut
Punchestown should suit Uncle Phil but he looks to have his work cut out to beat Halibut, who was an easy winner at Clonmel last time. The conditions of the race allows Halibut to race off 130 for Emmet Mullins and that could underestimate her ability.
15.23 – Exciting Oscar
I don’t have a strong opinion but Rory Delargy tells me that Denis Ahern won this handicap hurdle two seasons ago with Exciting Oscar who went chasing then and never really took to the discipline. Ambrose McCurtain claims 3lbs and Exciting Oscar runs off the same mark now as he did when winning this before.
