NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

It doesn’t matter if you know as much about US Racing as Liz Truss did about economics, we’ve got a few suggestions from our international trader Donal McKenna and the great Jason Weaver below.

Let’s get to those all-important picks, y’all…

19:00 – PERSIAN FORCE (Jason Weaver)

PERSIAN FORCE has been a model of consistency throughout the current campaign, considering he started early in March at Doncaster. He’s been a credit to connections and looks the finished article. I’m pretty sure that this season is going to be his best from a physical point of view and he has that middle draw in stall six. With Frankie Dettori booked, he can get that top-flight success on the board.

19:40 – YOU’RE MY GIRL (Donal McKenna)

Chocolate Gelato narrowly beat YOU’RE MY GIRL in the Frizette Stakes last time at Aqueduct, but on that sloppy (wet) track, You’re My Girl idled at the bottom of the stretch and then rallied back against the smooth travelling Chocolate Gelato. Now with a fast dirt surface, jockey upgrade to John Velazquez and a stall two draw, I like You’re My Girl to turn around the form. A strong each-way play for me.

20:20 – PLEASANT PASSAGE (Jason Weaver)

PLEASANT PASSAGE brings in that perfect 100% record and could be slightly underestimated in the market. She only seems to do enough once challenged late in her races and comes from a top outfit with an amazing record at the Breeders’ Cup in the McGaughey outfit. She has the pedigree to step forward again with the excellent Iras Ortiz Jr in the saddle.

21:40 – I’M VERY BUSY (Donal McKenna)

Similar to the Fillies Juvenile Turf, it will be hard to win from wider than stall 10 and gate speed will be important. Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien’s Victoria Road is drawn in stall one and hasn’t shown much gate speed to date so I am drawing a line through him. Silver Knott likes to come from off the pace and while he looks the right price, he could find trouble in running. However, I’M VERY BUSY has a similar run style to him and is an each-way price. He was drawn very wide last time out and just failed to catch Major Dude at the Belmont at the Big A trials, run at Aqueduct.
