This is a competitive race of its type with most of the runners open to any amount of improvement as chasers. MOT A MOT certainly falls into that category after signing off last season with victory in a good handicap hurdle at Newbury. Arizona Cardinal is an interesting alternative and, armed with their chasing experience, both Longshanks and Kakamora should be on the scene.
Heart Of A Lion is risky but he did win first time back last season and Obey The Rules is not only in form but armed with plenty of chasing experience. However, KEPY BLANC won with such authority here last time that the chances are he will follow up with Ben Sutton’s claim erasing a large chunk of his rise in the ratings.
A wind operation has done wonders for METHODTOTHEMADNESS (nap), judged on her thoroughly dominant win here last time, and she’s a scopey mare built to carry weight. Hidden Commander and Animal are feared, while Kayf Hernando could leave his troubles over hurdles behind him now he’s sent chasing.
Keep Running won well over C&D last month, despite jumping right, but this is likely to prove a much tougher test under a penalty. King Ottokar was the subject of a positive mention from Nicky Henderson in yesterday’s Stable Tour and may prove best of those with hurdling experience but SERGEANT WILSON created a real stir when winning a bumper in March and is taken to do the same on his hurdling debut.
A few of these are likely improvers, notably the handicap debutant BETTERFOREVERYONE with Alan King evidently keen to get him up in distance. Prince Des Fichaux is equally unexposed and at the other end of the spectrum there’s Robeam, who holds no secrets from the handicapper but he looks a good bet to give his running.
Although LA RENOMMEE has something to find with Herewegohoney on their novice encounter, that came only a week after a hard race at Cheltenham. On this softer ground that should benefit one with a French background, she can gain her revenge on the top weight who is clearly a danger. Lime Drop probably has another good season ahead of her.

Titanium Bullet (second choice), Dj Pete and Splashing Wave need respecting, having run well in bumpers already, while Doc McCoy looked good in his point for all that he didn’t beat a lot. However, any newcomer representing Sam Thomas and owner Dai Walters commands a second look and LUMP SUM is bred to be decent.
Several of these look interesting but none more so than PEAKY BOY, who is out of a Listed bumper winner and changed hands for big money after his convincing Irish point win in March. Cumhacht joined Rebecca Curtis after a pleasing debut in an Irish bumper and is second choice but Vincenzo and Realisation also make significant appeal.
