So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
15:35 Newmarket – Pogo (On The Nose, Expert Eye)
Yet to win anything stronger than a Group 3 but POGO did go close in this 12 months ago and has looked better than ever this term, including his latest second to the outstanding 7f yardstick Kinross; that shorter trip is probably ideal for him, though.
15:40 Worcester – Presentandcounting (Irish Herald, Ian Gaughran)
Yet another successful chaser who has found easy pickings in novice hurdles this summer, with PRESENTANDCOUNTING winning three of four; sent off at 1-10 and 1-50 in the latest pair and will find this a different kettle of fish but on quite a tempting mark for handicap hurdle debut.
15:50 Haydock – Mutaany (Western Morning News, Jeffrey Ross)
When second at Nottingham, MUTAANY was beaten by a subsequent Group 2 winner and the horse who beat him at Wolverhampton last time is now BHA-rated 93; unlikely to face anything of their calibre here.
16:25 Haydock – Pentland Hills (Racing Post, Lambourn)
2019 Triumph Hurdle winner PENTLAND HILLS was pipped on heavy ground here the following January; had wind surgery soon afterwards and has been seen only once since, when well beaten in the 2020 Champion Hurdle; had just fair Flat form earlier on but he’s a player on that, let alone his lofty hurdles form.
