WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

What a way to return to ParisLongchamp! There are FIVE group races at the track this weekend, with the feature, the Gr.1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp looking an absolute belter. A field of ten means there are some juicy each-way angles in a race where Coroebus looks too short at the head of the betting. The undercard looks clearer, and I have selected four horses to follow this Sunday, as we head towards the big weekend in just under a months’ time.

12:15 – Breizh Sky (NB)

Its not often you see a two-year-old win by eight lengths on debut, but BREIZH SKY was sensational when opening his account at Saint Cloud in May. The colt has since backed up his impressive performance when taking Listed honours at Deauville and he should be difficult to beat in the opener, the Group 3 Prix La Rochette.

A small field of only six may complicate race tactics, but Breizh Sky was man enough to make his own running on debut and can bounce out under Christophe Soumillon. The form of his Listed success has been boosted no end and although he may be kept honest by the talented Bolshkinov, I will be extremely disappointed if Breizh Sky isn’t still unbeaten on Sunday evening.

13:30 – Sealiway (NAP)

Ok, so I have been caught short before when putting SEALIWAY up as a NAP at Group 1 level earlier this season and although he finished second, the real form anoraks will call it a disappointing run. This Sunday however, there is no excuse.

Sealiway is miles clear of his rivals on the figures and should be well freshened up since his last run in May. His trainer, Francis Henri Graffard remains hopeful for some Group 1 targets later this Autumn and Sealiway should get back to winning ways here at Group 3 level.

The 2,000m trip is perfect and with only six runners, its wouldn’t be impossible to think that Mickael Barzalona could ride the four-year-old aggressively and get the job done easily.

14:48 – Rocchigiani (Each Way)

Firstly, Coroebus will need a serious return to his best if he is to get back to winning ways in such a competitive contest, secondly, I am really looking forward to seeing Goldistyle again, and thirdly, I think that ROCCHIGIANI will run a huge race in the feature, the Group 1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp.

Peter Schiergen is a shrewd operator, and his three-year-old colt was impressive at Goodwood last time out over a mile. The expected fast pace on Sunday should suit Rocchigani, who was held in high enough regard to take on Group 1 company on only his third start last year. His profile fits perfectly with the type of horse that generally runs well in this race, and he looks a colt with a big future.

Cristian Demuro takes the ride here and although it could be difficult to beat the likes of Coroebus, Goldistyle and Order Of Australia, at the prices Rocchigiani looks a nice each-way shout. I just hope that Goldistyle doesn’t knock us out of the first three.

16:08 – Arion

Hugo Palmer landed a touch with Quenelle d’Or around this time last term, a filly who boasted a similar profile (and the same silks) to ARION, who runs in the Listed Prix de la Cochere.

Arion already has experience in France and ran a good race when fourth at Vichy in July over 2000m and the drop back to 1600m could work the trick here. The form of that Vichy contest is solid and although there are seven fillies in her way this weekend, Arion looks to have landed on a particularly open Listed contest.

No stranger to success on UK trained horses, Ioritz Mendizabal takes the ride on Sunday and I expect that the pair will bounce out to make the running – an interesting runner!
