WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

16:40 – Maylah (NAP)

The most striking contender is the progressive 4yo MAYLAH (nap), who made it 2-4 for Mick Appleby when forging clear in a classified event at Chelmsford and is a major player again back in a handicap. Opticality was a clear second behind an improver at Ffos Las last week and she’s feared most, ahead of ten-time course winner Street Poet who has been in good form at Chelmsford recently. The other one on the shortlist is last year’s winner Far From A Ruby, who had an excuse at Catterick last time.

17:16 – Iceolation

C&D winner Grace Angel has a solid record and sets the standard back in a novice but she looks fairly exposed after seven starts, and preference is for ICE’O’LATION, who ran well for a long way at Lingfield on his recent debut and is an interesting contender on this drop in trip. Bedazzling looks the part on paper and she needs watching in the market, along with the other newcomer Always Tomorrow who represents an in-form yard with a good strike-rate with 2yos this season.

17:50 – Floral Splendour

Either of the newcomers could play a serious part, with Queen Of Ipanema the more likely on paper. FLORAL SPLENDOUR should find this much less demanding than the Haydock race she contested four weeks ago and can land a second win.

18:25 – Sweet Fortune

Support for any of the nursery newcomers could be significant but preference is for SWEET FORTUNE, who is weighted to finish in front of main danger Amarillo Gold again, as when scoring over C&D last month. Leap Year Lad could chase them home.

19:00 – Next Second

Bang On The Bell has form figures of 12151 at this track and is strongly respected off 4lb higher than for his win in a similar race here three weeks ago. Kim Wexler chased home a major improver at Southwell last time and looks interesting off an unchanged mark, while Ooh Is It needs checking in the market back at this trip on his return from a break. However, the vote goes to Ruth Carr’s NEXT SECOND who has come good with front-running wins over C&D in her last two runs and is open to more progress.

19:30 – Morty

Plenty have possibilities but the vote goes to the resurgent MORTY, who completed a double with his dominant display at Southwell on Monday and may well be able to strike again on this drop back in trip. The other hat-trick-seeker Admirable Lad is feared most, although For Peat’s Sake was only just caught by the selection at Chelmsford last week and he’s respected. Nacho could make a serious impact if this sets up for his closing style, while others to consider are Gustav Graves and The Tron.

20:00 – Aldabra

Makambe (second choice) and Red Bond are in decent form and should be in the mix again. City Of Life could be dangerous with cheekpieces added on his step up to 1m4f, but the vote goes to another unexposed 3yo in Sir Mark Prescott’s ALDABRA. She didn’t show much in three 7f runs last October but has plenty of stamina in her striking pedigree and could look a different proposition over this much longer trip on her handicap debut.
