Each Way Shout: 16:05 – Loubeisien
Next Best: 14:55 – Fenelon
NAP: 15:30 – Internationalangel
Hopefully plenty of you followed me in with Arista and Blackbeard to make a few quid at Deauville last Sunday, who were both extremely impressive in success. This Sunday marks the end of the August meeting at Deauville, and although there is no Gr.1 contest on the card, there are a few tasty stakes races across the afternoon. I am looking forward to getting my teeth into a few of these and have highlighted THREE that I think will score, before racing returns to Paris next weekend.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
14:55 – Fenelon
Over the winter there was this whisper floating about in France that FENELON was the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner in waiting. A winner on four of his six starts, the four-year-old has endured a chequered career due to small injuries but returned this spring with a win. Since then, Fenelon has both fluffed his lines badly at Chantilly and dominated a conditions race at Clairefontaine. His trainer Nicolas Clement became the youngest winning trainer of the ‘Arc’ with Saumarez in 1990 and although Fenelon remains entered in the October showpiece, he really ought to be winning easily here.
This is a trappy contest and strictly on current figures Botanik should win, however, if Fenelon is on a going day, then he has the ability to rip this field apart. I hope they don’t go a crawl and I really hope the true Fenelon turns up.
15:30 – Internationalangel (NAP)
As has been so often the case this year, this Gr.3 contest looks set to be played out between the international raiders which are, Archie Watson’s Tempus and the Jane Chapple-Hyam trained INTERNATIONALANGEL.
Tornadic doesn’t go so only six will take part in a sub-standard renewal of the Prix Quincy and for all that In Crowd is the early show favourite, I don’t think his form is good enough.
Jane Chapple-Hyam has enjoyed a stellar season and Internationlangel’s two Listed placed efforts this season have come behind decent animals. She was beaten a whisker by Oscula, who franked the from at Deauville two weeks ago, and came in runner-up behind the now Gr.1 placed Goldistyle at ParisLongchamp earlier in the summer.
Internationalangel receives 8lbs from Tempus, and although she hasn’t quite got the proven credentials as the latter mentioned, there are plenty of positives for this Sunday. I think she wins, and the price will be juicy!

16:05 – Loubeisien (Each Way)
LOUBEISIEN is a horse that I absolutely love and who has really stepped up his game since dropping back to sprinting trips this year. The form of his Listed win at Chantilly has been boosted no end and his action crossing the line really showed this colt doing his best work at the finish.
After making all the running over C&D last time out, Loubeisien was beaten narrowly on the line by Rose Premium, who has been supplemented by connection for this race on Sunday. I think that there is a fair chance at a reversal of the placings this weekend, especially as there is a reduction of 2kgs in the difference in weight between the pair.
Loubeisien will probably end up making the running again and if Max Guyon can keep a lid on him through the early stages, then there is every chance that we can get our revenge, he is a rapidly improving horse who should get better as he gets older.
