13:30 Beverley – Barney’s Bay
ITV Saturday gets under way here with a handicap over an extended 7f. An open race. BARNEY’S BAY doesn’t win very often and doesn’t have the best draw – but he must have eachway claims for Tim Easterby and Sean Kirrane, who takes off a valuable 3lb. My hope has run really well the last two starts at Newmarket and Chester and is on the same mark here.
FANCY A CHANCE TO WIN £/€25K?
13:50 Goodwood – Candle of Hope
ITV are also at Goodwood Saturday for this Group 3 Prestige Stakes for fillies over 7f. Nothing stands out here. CANDLE OF HOPE wasn’t beaten far by the impressive Victory Dance sat Newbury last time and looks promising for Richard Hughes and The Queen. She will enjoy it if there is a good gallop to run at.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
14:05 Beverley – Post Impressionist
Another handicap here for three-year-olds over 1m2f. POST IMPRESSIONIST looked to be improving until a poor effort at Chester last time but it might just be he didn’t act at that track. Three runs ago he ran a cracking second to Eldar Eldarov at Newcastle and that’s very good form. Stevie Donohoe rides for William Haggas.
14:25 Goodwood – Orbaan
This is a handicap over 7f. I’m happy to stick with ORBAAN who is in tremendous form for David O’Meara and Jason Watson takes the ride. He stays on a mark of 99 after finishing a fine fifth at York last week in a race he might have won with a clear run. Prior to that he had won at Ascot and this course. He’s just bouncing at present.
14:40 Beverley – King of Stars
This is the Listed Bullet Sprint over 5f. A big chance for KING OF STARS to get a win on the board for Ali Rawlinson and Mick Appleby. The rider deserves a nice prize after horrible injury luck and my selection has a good draw to work from. His second at York last time was a really good effort behind Bergerac.

15:00 Goodwood – Hoo Ya Mal
This is the Group 3 March Stakes for three-year-olds over 1m6f. HOO YA MAL is far from a strong stayer at this trip but such is the poor nature of the renewal it’s impossible to oppose the Derby runner-up who was third at this track last time. The George Boughey runner, being thought of for the St Leger before the Melbourne Cup, has William Buick on top and provide he settles should just outclass the field.
15:15 Newmarket – Great Ambassador
ITV go to Newmarket for one race Saturday in this Listed Hopeful Stakes over 6f. A big chance for GREAT AMBASSADOR to bounce back to form here for Ed Walker and Saffie Osborne. My hope was far from disgraced when sixth behind Commanche Falls in the Stewards’ Cup and he has the tactical pace to cope with this smaller field. A big chance.
15:35 Goodwood – Mutassabeq
The Group 2 Celebration Mile. MUTASSABEQ should pick up this prize in another weak race on the card. The Charlie Hills runners has a rating of 112 and comes in here on the back of a decent second to Chindit at Ascot. He should be hard to beat under Jim Crowley.
So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
