13:50 – Sunday Sovereign
The first of Paddy’s Pick 5 races with a daily £/€10k prize fund at York. I’m not certain there’s a massive draw bias at York, they seem to win on both sides. There’s plenty of pace in this spread all across the track. I fancy one at a big price to run a good race and that’s Sunday Sovereign, who was second to Illusionist off a mark of 94 here in May and that’s unchanged. She was disappointing at Epsom and had a run in late July after a bit of a lay off and has probably been readied up for this by Tim Easterby. She will do me!

14:25 – Local Dynasty
Local Dynasty was very impressive when he won at Newmarket and is the likely winner. Hectic can be the one to chase it home as he looked quite green at Newbury and picked up well.
15:00 – Aikhal
I really fancy Aikhal. When I watched him at the Curragh, I didn’t immediately think St Leger but the Great Voltigeur trip would suit. He was very impressive on that occasion. He’ll get the trip and I’ll be really sweet on him.
15:35 – Baaeed
Baaeed will win and is better than the opposition. Mishriff has dwelt in the stalls on his last three starts and I wonder if he’s getting a little bit ‘will I won’t I’ as a five-year-old colt. He’s changed his habits and I often don’t like that.

16:10 – Alfred Boucher
Alfred Boucher‘s first run for Ian Williams was a cracker behind Soapy Stevens at Chester over two miles and I can’t believe he went back to a mile and a half at Chester again after that when it looked like the track was too sharp. York is a level track but the long straight will give my pick plenty of time to get going.
