ACRION showed just modest form on debut, but improved to open his account in a first-time tongue strap over six furlongs at Lingfield 16 days later. That wasn’t a great race, but he took another big step forward when following up at Wolverhampton when last seen in March, still looking inexperienced but getting the job done nicely. He clearly hasn’t been the easiest to train, but has plenty of ability, and looks interesting now sent handicapping after another break on turf debut. Saaheq will be a threat if able to build on his latest success.

13:50 – Arrest
This is almost certain to prove a strong maiden with the pedigrees and connections represented and ARREST makes plenty of appeal on paper. He cost €440,000 as a foal and is a half-brother to several winners, notably Spring Loaded and Dinozzo, who were both smart, and he could hardly be in better hands. However, Golden Speech has already shown a good level of form, and seems sure to be on the premises again.
14:25 – Fairy Cross
FAIRY CROSS is bred to be smart and shaped well in a strong race at Newmarket on debut, improving as expected for that initial experience when bolting up on the July Course last time. She faced three newcomers on that occasion, but the manner of her success was hard to knock, and the runner-up gave the form a boost when winning next time. Fairy Cross looks a promising filly who should be up to making her mark at this level now. Tagline is a bit more exposed but does set the standard on form, so she has to be respected also.
15:00 – Savvy Knight
SAVVY KNIGHT beat some useful rivals when making a winning debut at Nottingham in April but didn’t really need to improve to win his next two starts. However, he produced a career-best effort when hitting the frame in the King George V handicap at Royal Ascot last time, enhancing both his reputation and rating in defeat. He still looked a little inexperienced, but came home with a flourish, and he should be well suited by this longer trip. Australian Angel may give him most to think about.
15:35 – Saigon
SAIGON is lightly raced for his age and opened his account in good style fitted with a first-time tongue tie at Salisbury last month, showing a good attitude to regain the lead after being headed inside the final furlong. That form looks solid for the grade and he has only been raised 2 lb for that success, so he looks a solid proposition to follow up in a similar race. Scarlet Dragon hasn’t won for a long time but shaped well in a falsely-run affair at Windsor last time and is able to run off the same mark in first-time cheekpieces.

16:10 – Amanzoe
AMANZOE showed improved form to make a winning handicap debut at Leicester last month, having more in hand than the official margin suggests, and was unlucky not to follow up at Haydock next time, hitting full stride too late in the day. She made the most of a good opportunity five days later in a weak race at Hamilton and is very much one to keep on the right side. This longer trip will also play to her strengths and she has an excellent chance. Meleri scored impressively on her handicap bow at Newmarket and rates the main threat.
16:40 – Hodler
HODLER opened his account at Goodwood last month, and shaped better than the bare result over course and distance last time, making a mid-race move out wide early in the straight which he paid for at the finish. He remains fairly treated and makes most appeal now taking on his elders. Beauty Choice is another weighted to go well for his in-form yard.
