14:00 – Hotspur Harry
Having won in good style at Nottingham last Wednesday, HOTSPUR HARRY lines up on favourable terms under a penalty and is taken to follow up. Sagauteur also arrives on the back of a win and is feared most, ahead of Brancaster whose trainer Brian Ellison can ready one after an absence.

14:30 – Explicit
Having rallied for a game win in a 5f seller at Musselburgh last Saturday, EXPLICIT is selected to follow up on his first attempt at 6f. Stablemate Duchray has strong claims on his best form but he failed to reproduce it last time out, and identical comments apply to Evolicatt. Stolen Glory looked a difficult ride last time under a 7lb claimer but had previously made a winning debut in a Beverley claimer and is back under a more experienced jockey today. He could be the main danger ahead of Ripon runner-up Teatime Tipple, while it will be no surprise to see the newcomer Love Fifteen run well.
15:00 – Makarova
The 3yo MAKAROVA is firmly on the up and can make it 3-3 in handicaps. Al Simmo may be a 5yo but she’s also progressive and could pose the chief threat on the back of a convincing win at Ripon last time out. Candescence remains unexposed as a sprinter, while first-time blinkers could sharpen the tardy-starter Arousing.
15:30 – Mohaafeth
The drop back in trip is an interesting move for the smooth-travelling MOHAAFETH and he earns the vote on account of the promise shown in 1m2f Group races last season. Brunch ran a cracker off top weight in a C&D handicap last month and is feared most, ahead of Valiant Prince.

16:05 – Tammani
This looks a good opportunity for TAMMANI (nap) to gain a first success since joining David O’Meara last summer. Unlucky not to go close over C&D four weeks ago, he again has conditions in his favour and can compete off the same mark. Stablemate Orbaan who finshed with a rare rattle into third at Epsom on Derby Day, may pose the main threat, although cases can also be made for Northern Express, Wizard D’Amour, Poet’s Magic and Ugo Gregory.

16:40 – Your Spirit
Following encouraging debut runs in different divisions of the same contest at Redcar, Misty Blues and Nashur should be winning races in due course, but they face a strong rival in the shape of the very promising YOUR SPIRIT, who may just have to repeat the form of her Beverley third to get off the mark. Mersea has more to do this time under a penalty but a market move for newcomer Poppy Carrew would be significant.
17:10 – Haliphon
If HALIPHON can repeat the form of his narrow defeat at Epsom last week, he’ll be the one to beat. The main threat may come from Wor Willie who gives the impression there’s better still to come, while another 4yo, Eclipse De Lunar, goes well at York and looks a reasonable each-way option. Topweight Charging Thunder won convincingly at Pontefract earlier in the week and completes the shortlist.
