13:35 – Grant Me Serenity
GRANT ME SERENITY makes plenty of appeal here on debut, particularly as the runners with previous experience set just a fair standard. Bought for £14,000 as a yearling, she is a half-sister to a couple of winners and trainer George Boughey is well capable of readying a newcomer. The booking of William Buick, who has a 50% strike rate at Redcar in recent seasons, also gives cause for plenty of optimism.
14:10 – Stripzee
STRIPZEE shaped as if the run would bring her on when fifth on her latest outing at Ripon, tiring late on to eventually pass the post five lengths behind the winner. She has been given a chance by the handicapper since and there are other reasons to be hopeful of a better showing with that run under her belt. Indeed, it’s well worth pointing out that most of her good runs have come at Redcar, including when beaten just a head from a 2 lb lower mark here in September last year.

14:45 – Elegant Verse
Shaped well amidst greenness when filling the runner-up spot on her debut at Newmarket last month, keeping on steadily once the penny dropped to be beaten just a length. ELEGANT VERSE‘s form sets the standard in this line-up and there should be lots more to come from her as she gains in experience. She is certainly in the right hands to go on progressing and this looks a good opportunity for her to get off the mark before going on to bigger and better things.
15:20 – Legend of Xanadu
Kept busy since finishing second on his debut at Pontefract in April, LEGEND OF XANADU ran his best race yet when again finding one too good at Hamilton eight days ago. He was beaten just a short head on the last occasion, leaving the impression he might well have won but for hanging right when first asked for his effort. He clearly has the ability to win a race of this nature and today could be the day unless one of the newcomers turns out to be above average.
15:55 – Sir Titus
Achieved a useful level of form as three-year-old, winning three times and putting up an even better performance in defeat when last seen filling the runner-up spot at Nottingham in November. He was beaten just a neck on the last occasion and it was a really good run to go so close given that the thriving winner, Raasel, was completing a five-timer. There is nothing as progressive in this line-up and SIR TITUS looks to have plenty in his favour from a 4 lb higher mark if fully wound up for his reappearance.

16:25 – Dusky Prince
Wasn’t seen to best effect when last seen finishing fourth at Wolverhampton in February, DUSKY PRINCE did well to be beaten by less than three lengths given that he was hampered at the start. He was outpaced in the early stages as well, so the return to a more galloping track here ought to be in his favour. A BHA mark of 70 looks more than fair judged on the balance of his form and he remains one to be interested in now back down slightly in grade.
16:55 – Mostly Cloudy
MOSTLY CLOUDY shaped encouragingly when fourth on his latest outing at Wetherby, doing his best work at the finish to pass the post just two and a half lengths behind the winner. That appeals as good form and it’s highly unlikely that we’ve seen the best of him yet after just five starts. He can race from the same mark here as he did at Wetherby and another big run should be on the cards given the solid pace forecast.
