DISTANT LIGHT is going the right way, showing improved form to open her account in a minor event at Lingfield 10 days ago, quickening up nicely from two furlongs out and having something up her sleeve. She had the run of the race that day but she looks fairly treated now entering handicaps and should have more to offer. Wild Mountain is also weighted to go well on his seasonal return.

CHEF DE PARTIE shaped promisingly on his sole start last season and he was well backed ahead of his return at Newbury this month. However, he was positioned too far back to get involved, running green when pushed along two furlongs out and leaving the impression he would come on again for the run. He has the ability to win a race of this nature and he is preferred to Frantanck, who fared best of the newcomers on his debut at Newcastle back in November and is sure to do better.
14:40 Mrs Fitzherbert
Some progressive fillies on show here and the returning MRS FITZHERBERT is taken to emerge on top and gain a first win at this level. She showed much improved form once sent handicapping last season, winning at Lingfield and Wolverhampton before shaping better than the bare result in a listed event on her final start in October. She wasn’t best placed in a steadily-run race and she should have more to offer this year. Primo Bacio ended last season on a low but will be a big danger if returning to the pick of her form.
15:16 Moktasaab
MOKTASAAB looked ungenuine at times last season, but he was well backed and showed much improved form to make a winning start for these connections at Newbury two weeks ago. He looked a totally reformed character – he had the Timeform squiggle last year – travelling well and in command over a furlong out. A subsequent 7 lb rise is justified and he may well progress again. Caradoc and Roscioli look most interesting of the opposition.
15:46 Super Superjack
SUPER SUPERJACK was steadily progressive last season, winning three handicaps at Bath, and he could have more to offer at around this trip this season. He was probably unlucky not to finish closer when runner-up at Kempton when last seen in October, losing momentum at a crucial stage, and he represents a yard that can get them ready after a break. He remains fairly treated and is narrowly preferred to Didtheyleaveuoutto, who is potentially thrown in on the pick of his form in bumpers and over hurdles.

SHAMLAAN has won two of his three starts for this yard and the manner of his latest success at Wolverhampton suggests he could have even more to offer. He was well found in the market and never looked in any trouble, always well positioned and not given an overly hard time to maintain his advantage once hitting the front. A subsequent 6 lb rise may well underestimate him and he looks a big player back on turf. Lovely Mana is feared most ahead of Sir Henry Cotton.
16:55 Le Forban
LE FORBAN showed improved form despite still looking a bit rough around the edges when forcing a dead heat on handicap bow at Lingfield on his return and should have more to offer over this longer trip. State Legend quickly got back on the up with a stylish win at Doncaster last week and is an obvious threat, while Al Azhar should be suited by this step up in trip.
