13:50 Newmarket – Tarhib
TARHIB looked very good last season especially when bolting up on the bridle at Yarmouth in easy fashion. Good ground was the key to her success and she disappointed in Listed company at Doncaster when the ground was on the easy side. It’s going to be lively at headquarters which will suit her. Hollie Doyle is booked because she has a featherweight to carry.

14:05 Thirsk – Starshiba
Was a ‘nearly’ horse for David Elsworth and now the syndicate have dipped into their pocket to the tune of 40,000 guineas to see if they can get him back on track with David O’Meara. STARSHIBA is blessed with loads of ability and can repay some of that outlay very sharply in the Thirsk Hunt Cup with £25,000 to winner. He’s been handed a perfect inside stall position on this tight, left-hand mile.
14:25 Newmarket – Movin Time
MOVIN TIME is a lightly-raced improver from the top Roger Varian stable. The best of his runs was when forcing the pace at the Royal Ascot meeting in the Hampton Court Stakes. All those around him faded and he wasn’t beaten that far behind horses who came from the back of the pack. Again, they forced the issue last time he was seen out, but takes a little drop in distance now. I’m sure they’ll be keen to hold onto him a little bit longer this time round.
14:40 Goodwood – Primo Bacio
PRIMO BACIO sets the clear form standard having locked horns already with Alcohol Free, Creative Flair, Snow Lantern and, of course, Mother Earth. Any of those runs give her a clear advantage and she can have a nice confidence-boosting victory here.

15:00 Newmarket – Existent (each-way)
EXISTENT didn’t run too badly in the Group 3 Abernant Stakes behind Double Or Bubble but clearly is going to be suited by the drop down to the 5f minimum distance now. He was still just a touch too much on the forehand in the early stages, but with some real classy sprinters in opposition he will find it much easier to get into that fast rhythm here. He does need to improve at this level and he could get a slice of the action at a huge each-way price.

15:40 Newmarket – Point Lonsdale (each-way)
2,000 Guineas
POINT LONSDALE went off at 8/13 to maintain his unbeaten record and only lost out to Native Trail at the top level last year. It wasn’t even a bad effort considering, from a physical perspective, he was always going to be a much better three-year-old. He’s not drawn too far away from the red-hot favourite and he can latch onto his tail and we will see who has improved the most over the winter. Again, he’s an each-way price.
