13:30 – Tuscan
TUSCAN showed much improved form to make a winning reappearance at Newmarket two weeks ago and has the potential for better still based on that performance. He beat a well-touted one of the Gosdens with a bit to spare that day and he holds a form advantage on his rivals here. He is fancied to follow up, likely at the chief expense of Al Mubhir, who created an excellent impression when winning on debut last October, and is greatly feared.

14:05 – Rocket Rodney
There are a couple of likely newcomers here but ROCKET RODNEY is expected to build on his debut where he shaped well at Nottingham 13 days ago. He showed plenty to work on, travelling nicely and only wore down late in the day. He is entitled to be sharper for that run and as is often the case in these events at this time of year, experience does count for plenty. Revenite and Shouldvebeenaring both appeal on paper and command respect, especially if the market speaks in their favour.
14:40 – Stone Of Destiny
STONE OF DESTINY hasn’t got a great strike rate but he kept good company last season and shaped well on his return to British soil in a handicap at Newmarket earlier this month. He raced freely in the early stages and those exertions told with his finishing effort, but the handicapper has given him a chance (just 1 lb higher than when winning the Portland at Doncaster in 2020) and he should go close if building on his latest run. Raasel should be sharper with a recent reappearance run behind him and can resume his progression.
15:15 – Silence Please
SILENCE PLEASE is an intriguing runner having her first start for Andrew Balding and should be too classy for these. She was placed three times in pattern company last season and she can boast a good record when fresh, so there is plenty to like about her chances. Bartzella is a fascinating contender now stepping up in class on her reappearance and could be the one to give the selection most to think about.

15:50 – Twilight Madness
TWILIGHT MADNESS was progressive in handicaps last season, completing a hat-trick at Newmarket in July, and was very close to that form on his return from three months off when beaten a head by a subsequent winner at Southwell last month. That run suggests he is up to winning more races this time round and his prominent racing style should see him to good effect here. Chipstead has a similar profile and seems sure to come on for his recent run at Newmarket, so rates the main danger.
16:25 – Wineglass Bay
WINEGLASS BAY improved with each of his three starts as a juvenile and should have more to offer now that he ventures down the handicap route. The bare form of his win at Southwell when last seen isn’t anything special, but he impressed with how strongly he travelled, and represents a yard are in flying form. He is marginally preferred to Dark Swansong, who also signed off his two-year-old campaign on a winning note and also looks well handicapped.
17:00 – Tralee Hills
Four of the last five winners of this were aged seven or over and the eight-year-old TRALEE HILLS is appealing on the back of an encouraging reappearance in a handicap at Windsor won by Mellow Magic. He is now 4 lb better off with that rival and should appreciate this step back up in trip. Diamond Cutter probably found two miles on slow ground too much of a test at Nottingham on his final start of last season and he is second choice.
