13:50 – Electric Love

ELECTRIC LOVE was well backed when making a winning start in handicaps at Yarmouth last season and did so in the style of one who had much more to offer. That impression rang true as she followed up under a penalty over the same course and distance six days later with a similar amount in hand and her efforts afterwards were also encouraging. Electric Love should have even more to offer this season and is taken to make a winning return to action, likely at the main expense of Mokaatil and Recon Mission, both of whom are very effective over course and distance.

14:20 – Nahanni

NAHANNI has worn headgear on all three starts, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t straightforward or is devoid of ability, as his form is very strong, and he looked potentially smart when powering away from his rivals at Leicester earlier this month. He put his rivals to the sword some way from home and galloped all the way to the line in the style of a colt that hasmuch more to offer. He faces some other promising, unexposed rivals now, but he sets a good standard for them to aim at, and he is taken to come out on top again up in class with the cheekpieces back on to replace blinkers. United Nations, who is bred to come into his own over middle distances this season, is feared most.

14:55 – Arenas Del Tiempo

ARENAS DEL TIEMPO was progressive in handicaps last season, very strong in the betting when scoring over course and distance in August, and was value for extra on the day after she set some stern fractions in form but still saw her race out strongly. She arrives on the back of two solid efforts on the all-weather, so will be match fit, and she remains with the potential to win more races from this sort of mark. Andrew Balding has won this twice since 2015 and Achelois has the profile of one who could do better again as a four-year-old, so also needs considering in an open handicap.

15:30 – Kings Prince

KINGS PRINCE lost his way towards the end of last season, but he bounced back to form on his return from eight months off at Leicester recently, given a positive ride from the front under Hollie Doyle and was only edged out close home. He has been raised 3 lb for that effort but he arguably proved better than ever, so a small rise seems fair, and he shouldn’t be long in winning again on that evidence. Past course and distance winner Going Gone is a big player on his return for his local yard, while Year of The Dragon is also respected after another good showing at Doncaster.

16:00 – Blueberry Hill

An ordinary minor event, and the most likely winner is BLUEBERRY HILL, who ran better than ever on reappearance at Doncaster three weeks ago, and is sure to benefit from a step up in trip now. Later Darling has run to a slightly higher level of form so has to be respected, while Elena’s Gift was strong enough in the market on her debut at the end of last season so is presumably though capable of better.

16:30 – Spy

SPY showed the benefit of a step up in trip and gelding operation when making a winning return to action on handicap debut at Wolverhampton last month and he should remain competitive following a 4 lb rise in the weights. His pedigree suggests there should be even more to come now he is up and running so is worth backing to follow up. Handicap-debutant Pub Crawl has more to offer and rates the chief threat, though Swilcan Bridge, who was a disappointing favourite behind Spy last time, shouldn’t be underestimated now switched to turf.
