It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the table. Let’s get to the bets…
14:05 Pontefract – Rukwa (Steve Mullington)
RUKWA was the winner of three races over hurdles and one on the AW and a creditable effort on his second start back from a long absence when fourth at Wolverhampton (2m, AW) last month. Successful on soft ground over hurdles earlier in his career.
14:40 Pontefract – Love Is Golden (Weekender, Paul Kealy)
LOVE IS GOLDEN has three wins on soft/good to soft, the latest at Chester (1m4f) last August. Was returning from five months off when second of 12 at Doncaster (1m2f, good) nine days ago and although he may not come on much for it having made a successful return from a similar absence last year, he has to be considered from the same mark. Stable has a good record in this race.
16:25 Pontefract – Gainsbourg (Daily Post, Mercury)
GAINSBOURG has two wins at about 1m last season, the second over C&D on soft ground. Now 6lb higher, but one with a chance despite lack of a recent run.
17:05 Southwell – Moscow Spy (Racing Ahead, Ben Morgan)
MOSCOW SPY is an unexposed sort who has shown only modest form in maiden/novice hurdles at about 2m. Improvement likely now up in trip on handicap debut.
