13:15 Ayr – Sebastopol
I was very keen on SEBASTOPOL when he won nicely at Kempton and the form has been boosted by the horse that finished second that day, Golden Boy, winning at Ascot since. I’ll take Sebastopol to remain on the winning thread.
13:35 Newbury – Mot A Mot (each-way)
Royaume Uni will be very popular and for good reason. This son of Galileo will love conditions and is still very fairly handicapped on the back of some good form. Another that I feel deserves a good look at is MOT A MOT, who is highly thought of. He’s had a wind operation and now wears a tongue tie. He has to be kept on side certainly as an each way play.

13:50 Ayr – Dusart
DUSART ran a very good race at the Cheltenham Festival in pretty tough conditions, finishing a good fifth to L’Homme Presse in the Grade 1 Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase. He is the class act and as long as his exertions at Cheltenham haven’t taken too much out of him, he should be too good for these.
14:10 Newbury – No Comment
NO COMMENT got beaten at Doncaster by Indy Five where he was gave the winner, 10lbs that day. He’s now in receipt of 4lbs and that is quite a turnaround. Trainer Philip Hobbs has his team in good form and this ground and track should really suit him.

14:25 Ayr – Milkwood
Trainer Neil Mullholland has had this race in mind for sometime for last year’s winner, MILKWOOD. He ran a really good race at Cheltenham prior to winning this last year but we have to take it on trust that he is fit enough now, not having run since October. He’s had a racecourse gallop which should help and cam back after a lay-off to finish second in the Galway Hurdle before. Conditions are perfect for him and he is a little higher in the handicap than when winning the race last year. He is a force to be reckoned with at this track.
West Cork is the obvious danger and the Greatwood Hurdle winner was fourth at Cheltenham in the County Hurdle.
14:45 Newbury – Nina The Terrier (each-way)
NINA THE TERRIER is a standout each-way bet. She loved the ground when beating some smart mares at this track back in November. The ground could be the key. She receives weight from the likely favourite, Speech Bubble, That bodes well.

15:00 Ayr – Minella Drama
This looks a trappy contest as MINELLA DRAMA is not straightforward but he is talented. He may well be too good for these and he always looks better when he is dominating lesser rivals. Jacamar is a character who could like this track. It is not dissimilar to Leicester or Kempton, I know they are right handed but he has won going left handed. Do Your Job on ground he loves is interesting, but I am taking the Donald McCain trained horse to get it done.
15:25 Ayr – Kitty’s Light
Jack Tudor nearly pulled off a miracle in the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown last year when he got badly hampered. Even though his place was improved in the stewards enquiry, he still didn’t get the race. Christian Williams must be really pleased with how KITTY’S LIGHT‘s season is coming to a head at the right time. She was runner-up last time in a Kempton handicap to stablemate Cap Du Nord and is only 4lb higher than when running such a good race at Sandown last year. The ground is perfect for him, he just needs to jump slickly and that can sometimes let him down. Win My Wings seemed to love it when winning at Newcastle and interesting that Christian Williams has drafted in ace 7lb claimer Rob James to ride. He has 250 winners ridden in point-to-points in Ireland.
Stormy Judge has to be respected from the Pat Fahy yard. He won a very competitive novice handicap chase, beating a Grand National candidate Enjoy Dallen in the process in Navan last year. He is a strong stayer and it’s interesting that the trainer has always wanted to win a Scottish Grand National. Ashdown Lad is a novice and that angle has worked in the past. The topweight Hill Sixteen is another who needs a second look as Sandy Thomson has booked crack Irish claimer Mark McDonagh to claim 5lbs off him.
