RORY DELARGY:
“I didn’t see anything in the Kingmaker Novices’ Chase that made me think that Third Time Lucki could reverse the form on Edwardstone. I was surprised how good of a race it was. It was really well run. Edwardstone was really impressive in everything he did in the race. I was slightly concerned about the sharpish Warwick track and the ground but there were no issues. He was in control all race.
“Third Time Lucki was set up to beat Edwardstone and the Skelton’s thought they could get one over on their rival but it wasn’t to be. I’ve had doubts about Third Time Lucki, especially at Cheltenham, he never really comes up the hill. He’s won there before but I’ve never been too impressed.

“Riviere Detel is going to be 2lbs worse off than Blue Lord in the Arkle Chase, which is worth pointing out. She had a juvenile allowance all season but that isn’t there any more.
“Edwardstone is really solid but the wise guys will be against him. His price will likely drift before this race. If you’re keen to back him, I’d hold fire for now. The longer you wait, the better price you’ll get. He could be a decent bet on the day.
“Coeur Sublime is a horse I’ve always liked but he has had problems. He’s been hampered by breathing issues. If you watched the Morgiana Hurdle in 2020, he cruised up from the back of the field to hit the front at the last hurdle but he didn’t get home. That knocked him back and the breathing problems were still there.

“He also wasn’t wearing a tongue tie on his first two starts for Henry De Bromhead. He won last time out at Gowran Park by 10l. Rachael Blackmore had control of him all race and he’ll be a better horse with the tongue tie on. Your issue backing him for the Arkle is he’ll be cruising until the second last and then you’re wondering whether he’ll get up the hill. From an each way point of view, that wouldn’t worry me massively.
“The issue with most of these horses in this race will be how their jumping holds up. A horse with a touch of class, who travels really strongly and can jump well could win it. Coeur Sublime will be on the bridle for longer than most. He’s a decent each way pick right now and hopefully he goes there.”
