The Nicholls-trained Kayf Taoi has potential and may well benefit from the application of cheekpieces but LAST ROYAL sets a clear standard. Watergrange Jack is the other one who has shown significant form under rules. Blackcauseway won an Irish point before his £100,000 sale and Ludlow flop.

14:30 – Flagrant Delitiep

While Ubetya should have more to give on this second start for Paul Nicholls, and it’s just his eighth start under rules overall, slight preference is for FLAGRANT DELITIEP with his commendable course record. None of the others are comfortably ruled out but Champagne Court is third on the list.

15:05 – Boombawn

There is little depth to this and Dan Skelton looks to have found a good opportunity for BOOMBAWN to break his duck. His two runs at Newbury are comfortably the pick of the form on offer. Name In Lights is an obvious contender for minor honours but Stormin Crossgales is open to improvement and might be the one to chase home the selection.

15:40 – Alberic

Eros looks the most likely to play a serious role but ALBERIC, the youngest of the party, has been improving over hurdles and got off the mark last time. In such a race, it may be worth taking the chance that he takes satisfactorily to chasing. Richidish is hugely unexposed and worth a check for market confidence in him on his handicap debut. Anuas Ar An Bpost completes the shortlist.

16:15 – Eventful

There is plenty of recent form that needs respect. EVENTFUL ran on well to finish on the heels of Bella Beau at Plumpton in January and she built on that promise when produced late to win in tidy style at the same track 16 days ago. It is hard to ignore that No No Tonic’s two seconds were at the start of March at this track in 2020 and 2021, so she may prove next best, although Rubys Reward and Glorious Isolation raised their profile behind Eventful last time and Torbellino is a handicap hurdle debutante with claims.

16:50 – Justified (NAP)

This may well go to JUSTIFIED (nap) who makes his handicap hurdle debut and steps back up in trip after a 2m maiden at Fakenham, which would surely have been too sharp for him. Universal Brook is next on the list, making her first appearance in a handicap, as does Sabrina who looked so promising on her bumper win two years ago. Smoking Pigeon and Henschke have the recent handicap form.

17:20 – Adrien Du Pont

The biggest players on ratings are ADRIEN DU PONT and West Approach, who both have plenty of useful form but the former should have the edge over this trip. Wagner has a better chance than the bare figures suggest and Maitree Express is an interesting hunter chase debutant.
