WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
13:00 – Poker Master
A case can be made for a few of these, but the most persuasive one is for POKER MASTER, who produced a career best from out of the blue to open his account in taking style at Huntingdon a week ago. Connections have made the wise decision to turn him out under a 7 lb penalty and he will be hard to beat if in the same form. Angels Landing is feared most on the back of her good course and distance second three weeks ago.
13:30 – Hidor De Bersy
This is likely to boil down to a straight fight between HIDOR DE BERSY and Knickerbockerglory. The latter is strongly respected having finished a respectable third behind a very useful and progressive novice at Wincanton last time, but Hidor de Bersy impressed with his slick jumping when landing the odds with plenty in hand at Fakenham in January. Zucayan and fairly useful Flat recruit Glen Again are each-way contenders.
14:00 – Karl Philippe
It is hard to get away from KARL PHILIPPE here following his breakthrough win over fences at Ludlow last month. He was strong in the market and duly built on his previous promise, and did well to overcome an unfortunate incident, slithering on landing four from home but still having plenty in hand at the line. A subsequent 6 lb rise in the weights looks lenient on the face of it and he is strongly fancied to follow up. Quoi de Neuf has failed to kick on since scoring at Taunton in December but shades the vote for second.

14:30 – Sacre Coeur
SACRE COEUR was a winner over hurdles and fences in France and has shown improved form since switching to Jonjo O’Neill this season. She was easy to back but ran right up to her best in a similar event at Wincanton last time, beating the rest comfortably but having no answer to a thriving winner. She is only 1 lb higher in the weights now and she is well up to defying this mark in a race which doesn’t look as deep. Wynn House shaped as if still in good form when fourth in a Cheltenham Class 2 in December and is feared most back from a short break.
15:00 – Java Point
JAVA POINT justified support to open his account over fences at this course in January (beat a next-time-out winner) and ran creditably when third in a competitive renewal of the Timeform Novices’ Handicap Chase at Cheltenham last time. He probably has more to offer than most of his rivals over fences being the only novice in the field and he should relish the step up to three miles for the first time. All of Head To The Stars’ wins over fences have come at this track, including the last two runnings of this race, so he must be respected.

15:30 – Picanha
PICANHA was a winner in points and has won two of his four starts under Rules, the latest in a maiden at Warwick in December on his second start over hurdles. He proved no match for some useful sorts in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last time, but has potentially been let in lightly now sent handicapping, and he could prove too progressive for his rivals here. Technological’s return to action at Plumpton in January was promising, so he is also fancied to be involved.
16:00 – Not That Fuisse
NOT THAT FUISSE shaped better than the result when third on his first go in hunters over course and distance in January and, having been brought down through no fault of his own since, he’s worth a chance to open his account in this sphere. Give Me A Copper should benefit from the stronger handling of Will Biddick, so he’s considered the main threat, while Gesskille looks an interesting British debutant.
