WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

13:15 – ONE TRUE KING

ONE TRUE KING reacted well to first-time cheekpieces when opening his account over fences at Sandown in December but has been unable to build on that since. However, the step back up in trip should suit, and he is just 2 lb higher than that winning mark, so may get back on the up following a month off. Foxboro is holding his form well and seems sure to give another good account.

13:50 – PLEASANT MAN

This looks an up-to-scratch renewal of the Adonis but it could be worth chancing the claims of hurdling newcomer PLEASANT MAN who is pitched in at the deep end. He was a useful stayer on the Flat and was picked up by these connections for 175,000 guineas. He is a nice type physically and should make his mark over hurdles. That said, Knight Salute arrives defending an unbeaten record, and is highly respected.

14:25 – PIC D’ORHY

Paul Nicholls has an excellent record in this race and this doesn’t look the deepest renewal, so PIC D’ORHY is taken to quickly shrug off a lesser effort at Sandown last time and get back on the up. He was impressive when landing a Grade 2 at Ascot in December and will take all of the beating if back in that sort of form, especially if getting an easy lead. Fantastic Lady has improved in leaps and bounds in recent weeks and can give the selection most to do.

15:00 – SHALLWEHAVEONEMORE

SHALLWEHAVEONEMORE was an impressive winner on his sole start in bumpers and has made a promising start over hurdles, building on the promise of his first two starts in this sphere when bolting up by 20 lengths at Sandown earlier this month. Admittedly, he made the most of a good opportunity on that occasion, but he drew away from the remainder in some style, and he is well worth his place back in better company now. Chris Gordon’s Aucunrisque is put forward as the biggest danger having improved in leaps and bounds in recent starts.

15:37 – CAP DU NORD

CAP DU NORD took a step back in the right direction when third in the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster last time and is well handicapped on last season’s form, so could be worth chancing in what looks another highly-competitive renewal. The Big Breakaway was runner-up in the Kauto Star over course and distance last term and is on a fair mark back in a handicap, so is another to consider along with the in-form Phoenix Way.

16:10 – HAAFAPIECE

The likeable HAAFAPIECE has had the form of his latest Wetherby win boosted since, so he could still be on a workable mark having been raised only 4 lb in the weights. Storm Dennis has the potential for better again on the back of his Huntingdon success and is a possible threat, while Flashing Glance only got a 2 lb nudge for his Hereford win in December so ought to be very competitive again.

16:45 – ITSOFURY

Having changed hands for six figures after a promising bumper run in Ireland, ITSO FURY surpassed that form when third in a good contest at Southwell last month, and a repeat of that level may well suffice. Spago is a newcomer for the powerful Paul Nicholls yard, while Realta Royale made a winning debut at Taunton and is open to progress.
