13:15 – SKYTASTIC

SKYTASTIC, a winner on both starts in bumpers last season, created a good impression on his debut over hurdles at Doncaster last month, jumping with notable accuracy on his way to a three-and-three-quarter-length success. Skytastic was value for more than that winning margin as he readily asserted on the approach to the final flight and he was only nudged out on the run-in to register an emphatic success. He is now unbeaten in three starts and has not shown everything he has to offer, so he stands out as the one to beat.

13:50 – DOYEN BREED

DOYEN BREED progressed well over hurdles last season but he has quickly developed into an even better chaser, winning on his debut over fences at Hexham before putting up even better efforts in defeat at Kelso and Warwick. His latest second was behind Threeunderthrufive in a Grade 2 at Warwick, showing he belongs in this company, and it puts him right in the mix here. He has more to offer as a chaser.

14:25 – FIDDLERONTHEROOF

FIDDLERONTHEROOF has been in excellent order this season, winning the Colin Parker Memorial at Carlisle before posting a career-best effort in defeat when beaten only half a length by Cloudy Glen in the Ladbrokes Trophy. Fiddlerontheroof only just failed to land that valuable prize but he ran a cracker to pull 28 lengths clear of the third. He has a 5 lb higher mark to deal with here but he looks up to the challenge and he can make his class tell in this less competitive affair. The good form of trainer Colin Tizzard is also a positive.

15:00 – GOOD RISK AT ALL

GOOD RISK AT ALL was a huge eye-catcher when runner-up on his handicap debut at Warwick last month and he is worth supporting on the back of that promising display. Good Risk At All had around five lengths to make up after losing momentum at the final flight, but he charged home in the closing stages, getting to within a neck of the winner. Two miles around a sharp track like Warwick didn’t place enough of an emphasis on stamina for Good Risk At All, but two miles and three furlongs around Ascot’s more galloping course will suit better. It’s also worth remembering that Good Risk At All was one of the best bumper performers in Britain last season, so there is the potential for him to prove much better than his current mark.

15:38 – FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES

FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES showed what he is capable of when registering a wide-margin win in the Melling Chase at Aintree last season and that form is right up there with the best on offer. Fakir d’Oudairies also produced a top-class effort on his seasonal reappearance when bolting up in the Clonmel Oil Chase in November and it’s possible to make excuses for the two lesser efforts he has posted since. His latest run at Thurles is certainly easy enough to overlook as he made a serious error at the first fence, which left him facing a stiff uphill task against a rival of Allaho’s quality. He can bounce back here.

16:10 – ART OF DIPLOMACY

Richard Newland is known for excelling with recruits and ART OF DIPLOMACY has fared well since joining the yard, winning two of his three starts, including at Catterick last time. That seven-and-a-half-length success was achieved in authoritative style and highlighted that he remains unexposed as a staying hurdler. He has a 10 lb higher mark to deal with in a more competitive race, but Cillin Leonard’s 5 lb claim helps ease the burden.

16:45 – ROC OF DUNDEE

ROC OF DUNDEE was well backed on her bumper debut at Wetherby last month and she justified that support by quickening nicely from the front to win by a length and a half, with the third a further nine and a half lengths back. She has a penalty to defy but Peter Kavanagh takes off 7 lb, and she looks up to the task. Trainer Donald McCain has his team in excellent order and has won with five of his last ten runners.
