Horse Racing Tips: 8 to be great at Fairyhouse today with a 5/1 NAP

Here's The Racing Post's verdict on the action in Ireland on Saturday including the nice-priced Western Zara at 16:00.

12:00 Bacardys

BACARDYS may not be among the A-listers in Willie Mullins’ string of exciting novice chasers but he should be good enough to open his account in this sphere at the seventh attempt, having shown plenty at Gowran Park two starts ago. Stablemate Egality Mans and the Gordon Elliott pair of Grand Paradis and Frontal Assault should be bang there, while Everglow could put his experience to good use and play a prominent role.

12:30 Rhinestone

Plenty of question-marks here, including some attached to RHINESTONE who nonetheless gets the vote to exploit his opening mark, despite his ordinary chase form and reservations about the suitability of the trip. Nelly’s Money appeals most on recent form, and Espion Du Chenet, below his best on his last two starts, has solid overall credentials.

13:05 Shes Some Doll

This distance is unknown territory for SHES SOME DOLL but it could potentially bring about improvement and she’s taken to bounce back from her Leopardstown blip. Where’s Frankie and School Lane have obvious claims, while It Could Be You is definite shortlist material.

13:40 Allegorie De Vassy

A cracking trial for the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival that has been won by some high-class sorts. The fact Brandy Love is seemingly the stable’s number-one candidate on jockey bookings isn’t necessarily a positive for ALLEGORIE DE VASSY, but it would have been a very tough call for the champion jockey and the recent course winner is marginally favoured to make it 2-2 in this country. Grangee is another major player and brings Grade 1 experience to the table.

14:15 Ha D’Or

This is the weaker of the two divisions and it will be a surprise if HA D’OR fails to take advantage of the opportunity. Useful Flat performer Celestial Horizon needs to provide reassurance after a disappointing start to his hurdling career. Former point winner and costly purchase Fiston Des Issards has plenty to prove. Newcomer Queen Jane may need further if her pedigree is anything to go by.

14:50 Micro Manage

Useful Flat performer MICRO MANAGE was a beaten favourite on both starts over hurdles last season but may now recover those losses. Dual bumper winner Flame Bearer could pose a serious threat. Roaring Potter and Prairie Dancer have a similar profile and should enter calculations.

15:25 L’Yser

This will not take much winning and the longer trip should help L’YSER, noted staying on for fourth in a stronger race than this over 2m at Punchestown. Outback Flyer, out of her depth in a Listed bumper last time, has a clear chance at this level. Point-to-point winners The Blind Piper and Fantasia Roque are quite appealing too.

16:00 Western Zara (NAP)

Cases can be made for a few of these but WESTERN ZARA (nap), trying this trip for the first time under rules, makes most appeal towards the bottom end of the handicap. The experience gained in her first two handicaps should stand her in good stead for this assignment. Paddys Planet and Lord Lariat should be in the thick of things again, while Rajsalad could be a lively candidate on his handicap debut.
