FRANK HICKEY:

“I feel Constitution Hill is certain to run in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. He travels really powerfully and appears to have that push-button acceleration at the end of his races. He has been extremely impressive, but Nicky has had some good horses turned over in the Supreme before in Spirit Son, Sprinter Sacre and Buveur D’air.

“It’s worth talking about Gordon Elliott’s Mighty Potter. The Royal Bond at Fairyhouse turned into a little bit of a sprint and it really didn’t suit him and he was finishing quickest of all. He made no mistake in the Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown and the stronger pace he is likely to encounter in the Supreme will suit. You could easily see him hitting the frame.

“My Mate Mozzie would probably be 3-3 over hurdles if he hadn’t hit the last hurdle in the Royal Bond. He was very impressive in a bumper and two hurdles runs previous to date. We haven’t seen him since, but in an ordinary year, you’d be very interested in him. I wouldn’t discount him at all.

“JPR One won on his hurdles debut at Exeter beating subsequent winners I Am Maximus, Triple Trade, Judicial Law and Rock Of Star in what looks a very useful race now. I thought he was a little unlucky not to win at Cheltenham but the Tizzard’s yard wasn’t flying at the time. He easily won at Taunton under a penalty and has a decent chance in the Betfair Hurdle off 130. He would need to win impressively at Newbury next month though to go for the Supreme Novices Hurdle rather than the County Hurdle.

“I’d discount Grand Jury as he just seemed to be outstayed by Ginto in the Lawlor’s Of Naas last time when stepped up in trip. Henry de Bromhead’s string weren’t running great at the time though. He won nicely on his hurdles debut and beat the useful Minella Cocooner in his point-to-point win.

“As things stand, Constitution Hill will go off favourite but were Sir Gerhard to win the Tattersalls Ireland Novices Hurdle impressively at the Dublin Racing Festival on the Sunday, then he could challenge the current ante-post favourite.

“Willie Mullins has both Sir Gerhard and Dysart Dynamo among the market leaders in the Supreme Novices Hurdle so his decision will affect my picks. Dysart Dynamo bolted up at Punchestown earlier this month, winning by 19 lengths.

I’m a huge fan of his and have been for a long time.

“Sir Gerhard beat Highland Charge at Leopardstown on St Stephen’s Day to bounce back from his third-place finish behind Kilcruit at Punchestown last April.”

I will be with whichever one of Sir Gerhard and Dysart Dynamo runs in the Supreme Novices Hurdle.
