Some familiar names go to post here with Coronation Cup winner Pyledriver, Aidan O’Brien’s Mogul and Alain de Royer Dupre’s final starter before retirement Ebaiyra all lining up in the field of 8 over 1m4f. As the market suggests it is likely to be between Pyledriver and Glory Vase with preference for the Japanese runner.
Conditions should be perfect for him in his bid to retain the race that he won in 2019. He has been mixing it with some of the best Japanese horses in training like Loves Only You and Almond Eye and gets the services of Joao Moreira; one of the top jocks around here.
Looks a competitive renewal with the Japanese pair of Resistencia and Pixie Knight meeting each other for the third race in a row with the score currently one all. Preference, however, is for the local horse Lucky Patch.
He overcame a wide draw to run out an impressive winner of the local trial for this and clearly loves the course and distance. Top jock Zac Purton should be able to get a lovely trip from 9 and hopefully notch Lucky Patch’s 6th win around here.
Golden Sixty has won 17 of his 18 starts and will be a prohibitive price here, so its worth considering an each way play of one at a bigger price. Mother Earth represents the O’Brien and Moore team but she looks unsuited to the type of test she faces here.
Sky Darci ran a nice race behind Golden Sixty in the trial for this, a run arguably as good as anything else other than the favourite and is a fair each way price to take the spoils if the fav underperforms.
Some familiar names here also with Jim Bolger running Irish Guineas winner Mac Swiney, O Brien with one time Derby fav Bolshoi Ballet and William Haggas running Champion Stakes second Dubai Honour. I think they will all have to go all out to lower the colours of Loves Only You.
She has comes in off an excellent win at the Breeders’ Cup in what was a very hot race and significantly has the benefit of a run and win over course and distance here. She’s as consistent as they come and with conditions in favor and, having the pick of the form, I’m taking her to come out on top.
