Indefatigable will attempt to get the better of staying superstar Paisley Park for the second time this season when the pair lock horns in the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury on Friday, November 26 at 3pm.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
They are the star names in a slick six-horse field that also includes last season’s Pertemps Network Final winner Mrs Milner and 2020 Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle champ Lisnagar Oscar – and you’ve come to the right place to swot up on the runners and riders.
Paisley Park
Trainer: Emma Lavelle Jockey: Aidan Coleman Age: 9 Weight: 11st 6lbs
Very smart hurdler who didn’t hold quite the same dominance in this sphere last term but returned with a perfectly creditable third in the West Yorkshire Hurdle at Wetherby. Leading claims.
On The Blind Side
Trainer: Nicky Henderson Jockey: Nico de Boinville Age: 9 Weight: 11st 4lbs
Smart hurdler who wasn’t at his best when last seen 7 months ago but scored on last year’s reappearance, so a big effort isn’t out of the question.
Lisnagar Oscar
Trainer: Rebecca Curtis Jockey: Adam Wedge Age: 8 Weight: 11st 0lbs
2020 Stayers’ winner at Cheltenham and, while he went winless last term, he showed there’s some life left in him when third at Aintree on return. Return to this trip will suit.
Thomas Darby
Trainer: Olly Murphy Jockey: Sean Bowen Age: 8 Weight: 11st 0lbs
Smart hurdler who has suspect attitude but and had a couple of these rivals in front of him when fourth in the West Yorkshire Hurdle at Wetherby on reappearance. Tried in a tongue tie, now.
Indefatigable
Trainer: Paul Webber Jockey: Daryl Jacob Age: 8 Weight: 10st 13lbs
Smart mare who rarely runs a bad race. Got the better of Paisley Park at Wetherby on return, but had a fitness edge that day, and is now worse off at the weights.
Mrs Milner
Trainer: Paul Nolan Jockey: B. J. Cooper Age: 6 Weight: 10st 11lbs
Likeable mare who bolted up in the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham in March, then completed a straightforward task in listed company at Limerick on return. This is tougher, but she can’t be dismissed.
Timeform Verdict: PAISLEY PARK should be fully tuned up after a sighter at Wetherby, so everything is in place for him to land this race for the second time (also runner-up last year). Indefatigable beat the selection last time and, while on worse terms, a bold showing is still expected from her, while Lisnagar Oscar can play a part if he brings his very best form.
