Lingfield 11:35 – One Last Dance
Ryan Moore is in action at Lingfield on Saturday keeping his eye in for the Hong Kong international jockey’s championship no doubt. His agent has got him some decent rides and he can get the late morning start off to a flyer for trainer Richard Hughes aboard One Last Dance. I can’t say he was unlucky last time, but he ran right up to this mark at Wolverhampton and is surely going to benefit with the services of Ryan in the saddle and he can get that elusive first victory of the season on the board.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
Lingfield 12:35 – Taawfan
Another decent opportunity for Ryan Moore to go back to the winners’ enclosure. Taawfan is relatively lightly raced on the all-weather but put up her best performance at Kempton over the mile so this track will definitely suit. She has attracted support on a few occasions suggesting that she has been working well going into her races. Things just haven’t panned out right for her but everything is in place on Saturday.
Lingfield 15:30 – Nibras Shadow
Nibras Shadow has landed a nice inside draw over the long sprint distance of 7f and she seems flexible regarding tactics. Admittedly she doesn’t look thrown in at the weights, but they take off a valuable 3lbs with the apprentice Stefano Cherchi aboard. She has won twice on a synthetic surface at Wolverhampton and Newcastle and is only having her second try around this track.
Wolverhampton 17:30 – Alablaq
David Evans’ charge Alablaq originally cost 120,000 guineas and was picked up at the horses-in-training sale by this team for just £10,000. He put up a fair performance at Redcar and possibly just got a little stuck in the softer conditions so will probably start a few points bigger in the market than he should. James Doyle is on board and while he has a bad draw in stall 12, a good jockey can always overcome a bad draw.
Wolverhampton 18:00 – Symbol Of Light
It’s not always easy to carry a 7lb penalty for winning against unexposed rivals, but the fact that the Champion Flat trainer Charlie Appleby decides to let Symbol Of Light take his chance would suggest that he may be on target for all-weather finals day up at Newcastle. If he can prove as dominant as he was last time, when a little keen in the early stages but still a comprehensive winner, he can give James Doyle the middle leg of a Saturday treble.
Wolverhampton 19:30 – Sovereign Slipper
Henry Candy’s charge Sovereign Slipper has really found his stride of late. Being a half-brother to Sippers Best and Kings Slipper (who are both rated in the high 90s), he doesn’t look like that two-time winning run is about to stop. Sovereign Slipper won with a good bit in hand at Lingfield last time and over this 6f at Wolverhampton, the outside stall in 12 is not a problem at all. The Doyler will have the full length of the back straight at Wolverhampton to find his spot and strike.
Jason Weaver’s best bets:
Lingfield 11:35 – One Last Dance
Lingfield 12:35 – Taawfan
Lingfield 15:30 – Nibras Shadow
Wolverhampton 17:30 – Alablaq
Wolverhampton 18:00 – Symbol Of Light
Wolverhampton 19:30 – Sovereign Slipper
