GAASSEE powered clear to score in emphatic fashion at Chester last month and looks capable of defying a penalty on that evidence. Toromona looked a hard ride on his return at Wolverhampton but his previous form entitles him to respect. New Force should improve on his opening effort at Kempton and is not discounted, either.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
16:20 – Engles Rock
The vote goes to ENGLES ROCK (nap), who proved suited by the return to Tapeta here last month and may well build on that success. She remains on a handy mark. Second choice is Traveller, who ties in with the selection on that form. End Zone and Proclaimer are also worthy of respect.
16:55 – Euraquilo
An interesting but somewhat tricky nursery, with most of the runners appealing types. First choice is EURAQUILO, who scored here six weeks ago and looks the type to do well in handicaps. The Menstone Gem also has respectable C&D form and he is second choice, ahead of Lawful Command.
17:30 – Liangel Hope
The clear form pick is LIANGEL HOPE, who went very close on his first two starts then had an excuse last time. The other runners with experience look handicap prospects, so newcomers Emerald Lady (second choice) and Barbara’s Incharge are potentially the biggest threats to the selection. Check the betting in that respect.

AXOPAR has shown plenty of speed on each of his last 2 starts over further on AW/turf and, with the drop back to 6f expected to suit, it would come as no surprise to see him go close in an ordinary affair. Whiteandblue may emrge as the chief threat on tapeta debut, ahead of newcomer Reiver Road.
18:30 – Benzema
A substandard affair for the grade, with topweight Janaat running off almost a stone lower than the ceiling. She warrants respect on her handicap debut but slight preference is for BENZEMA, who made an encouraging Tapeta debut here last month. Romantic Thought and Lunasa should be thereabouts if backing up their last-time-out performances.
19:00 – Tilia Cordata
A maiden contest in all but name. Most of the main form contenders have not progressed and look exposed, so the two suggestions against the field are the unexposed ex-Irish filly TILIA CORDATA and interesting newcomer Naval Captain. Matamua should be the biggest threat provided she takes well to the new trip/headgear.
19:30 – Oriental Lilly
Plenty hold chances in a competitive finale, not least the hat-trick seeking Muatadel, Hurstwood and the recent Redcar eyecatcher Mudawwan. However, from a favourable draw (stall 11) the safest advice is to stick with the versatile ORIENTAL LILLY. Jim Goldie’s likeable mare has kept on pleasingly on her last couple of visits to Gosforth Park, and it’s considered to be a positive that Paul Mulrennan takes the mount on this occasion.
