13:25 Stradivarius
It’s Champions day, so we’ve six of the best from Ascot on ITV Racing. The great thing this year is we should get decent ground and that may help punters find the winners a little easier. Hollie Doyle is back aboard Trueshan after missing the winning ride last time in France through suspension. What a money spinner he is for connections!
STRADIVARIUS should enjoy the ground at least as it was heavy in France, but it still looks a big ask for him to turn round the deficit around with Alan King’s runner. However, the drier the ground the better his chances. Over this two-mile trip, he’s my pick.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
14:00 Creative Force (Each-Way)
William Buick needs all the help he can get from Godolphin as he chases the Flat Jockey’s Championship title and CREATIVE FORCE could be a big player. He stumbled at Haydock coming out of the stalls when finishing sixth last time.
While it may not have seemed like much, any loss of momentum in a sprint is magnified, especially in top-class company. He won the Jersey Stakes at the Royal meeting so handles the track, the ground holds no worries. He has a very good each-way chance at least. Art Power and Dragon Symbol are the biggest dangers.
14:35 Snowfall
Aidan O’Brien runs his dual Oaks winner SNOWFALL in this contest against her own gender and that’s worth noting. He must be very keen to get a winner on the day for the Ballydoyle operation and she has a massive chance after finishing sixth in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe a fortnight ago. Eshaada is surely better than she has shown lately and should probably be judged on her second-placed finish in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot.
15:10 Palace Pier
Baaed has looked a monster in his wins lately and it could be that he is very much on the up, However, Palace Pier has been there and done that. Frankie Dettori says he is one of the best milers he has ridden – and he has ridden some very good ones over the years. It’s PALACE PIER to win, but the three-year-old Mother Earth is a big price considering she is a 1,000 Guineas winner and gets the age and gender allowance.
15:45 Mishriff
Adayar is the Epsom Derby and King George VI Stakes winner, who put up a respectable run in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe to finish fourth. It would finish off his season superbly were he to win the 1m 2f Champion Stakes.
However, MISHRIFF heads the market for good reason. He is a class act who has improved with every run this season. His win in the Juddmonte Stakes at York showed how good he is over this 1m 2f trip. He is going to be tough to beat and arrives pretty fresh after a spaced out campaign.
16:30 Sir Busker
It’s always good to side with a course specialist at tracks like Ascot and SIR BUSKER fits the bill. We could yet see the jockeys title race go to the last race at Ascot, and Oisin Murphy for one will hope I’m right about the William Knight-trained runner as he get the leg up.
