Although Wedding Dance has not been seen on the track for 419 days, they don’t normally lack for fitness on their return from Charlie Appleby’s yard. Added to that, this looks a good opportunity at Listed level. See The Rose beat her in France on her last start 13 months ago and she has boosted the form when running a close fifth in the French 1,000 Guineas this season. William Buick is on board and is still chasing that Flat jockey’s title hard.
We have a few backing up fairly quickly who ran very well up in the Ayr Gold Cup last Saturday and they will be prominent in the market. However, Treacherous got no run whatsoever when close up behind Hurricane Ivor in the Portland at Doncaster a fortnight ago and that form has been rubber-stamped since. He is a an attractive each-way price.
It would be easy to pick the likely market leader Albaflora as she has solid claims now dropped in grade. I looked back at the return of Glenartney at York last time and it becomes more impressive that she managed to finish third from an unlikely position at the back of the pack and was forced very wide to make her challenge. Oisin Murphy gets the call to ride her and she may be overlooked in the market.

Let’s hope that La Rav‘s recent run on Tuesday at Beverly has not left its mark. It shouldn’t have as he was unlucky and ran on strongly through the line despite giving it away at the starting stalls. He is still very well handicapped on his old form for his previous trainer and with a guaranteed pace to run at, he will be finishing strongly underneath the excellent Joanna Mason.
Girl On Film doesn’t have the best form in the line-up but she is bidding to try and maintain a 100 per cent win record after her debut win. The market expected her to make a winning start to her career and she didn’t disappoint. She looked very classy in the process as she strode up towards the winning line and it’s not like trainer Ralph Beckett to throw his two-year-old’s into the deep end.
We should sit up and take notice of his confidence.
We haven’t seen Master of The Seas since an excellent second to Poetic Flair in the 2,000 Guineas over this course and distance last May. He does have a couple of future entries in the Queen Elizabeth at Ascot and this can be a perfect launch pad into a very profitable time for the excellent Charlie Appleby, who is chasing that trainers championship also. He should have too much class for these and it’s a perfect head-to-head for the two boys who are chasing the jockeys championship in William Buick and Oisin Murphy who rides Benbatl.
