13:40 Doncaster – Daiquiri Francais
ITV Racing on Thursday starts here with a nursery handicap for juveniles over an extended 6 furlongs and it’s hard to have a strong opinion about any of these. DAIQUIRI FRANCAIS is a horse I have seen in the flesh winning twice at Windsor this season on varying types of ground and she seems to be a bit better than connections might have thought. She goes for Ralph Beckett and Rob Hornby, so should have each-way claims.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
14:10 Doncaster – Symphony Perfect
Now a big sales race in the £200,000 sprint for youngsters over an extended 6 furlongs. I’ll have a few quid on SYMPHONY PERFECT each-way here for Richard Hannon and Hayley Turner. My selection gets in with just 8st 4lb on her back, yet has a relatively high rating of 85 and plenty of experience. Stall one might not be a plus, but her fourth last time at York was a fine effort behind Ever Given, who goes again.
14:40 Doncaster – Inspiral
This is the Group 2 May Hill for two-year-olds over 1m, where it’s hard to get away from INSPIRAL for the Gosdens and Frankie Dettori as she looks like a good thing. Already high in the market for next year’s 1000 Guineas and Oaks, Inspiral hacked up from the useful Wild Beauty in a Listed race at Sandown last time. Many will just expect her to hack up here as the odds will suggest.
14:55 Epsom – Edinburgh Castle
ITV show one from Epsom in this handicap for professional jump jockeys over 1m 4f and this is wide open. Tom Scudamore likes to think he can ride like a Flat jockey and has a great each-way chance on EDINBURGH CASTLE for the Jonjo O’Neill stable. A record of one win from 15 does not inspire confidence, but my selection has won at the track before, which is a big plus, and stays well.
15:15 Doncaster – Tribal Craft
Now the Group 2 Park Hill Fillies’ Stakes over an extended 1m 6f. TRIBAL CRAFT might be ridden to pick up some each-way pieces here for Andrew Balding and David Probert. My selection performed just like that when coming from off the pace to chase home the impressive Wonderful Tonight in the Lillie Langtry at Goodwood. She was then not disgraced in the Ebor when ninth and hanging a little. The ground will be fast enough for her, but hopefully she will get away with it.
15:45 Doncaster – Modern News
Finally from Doncaster, a handicap over 7 furlongs. I’m all over MODERN NEWS here for Charlie Appleby and William Buick. The lightly raced three-year-old returned this season with a fine win at Newmarket when fancied in the betting, keeping on well to see off Final Watch. He’s a gelding, but could still be a Group horse in the making for a top team.
So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
